Stock to Boss

I know that it will never be possible to turn a stock mustang into an official Boss 302 because of the limited production and the numbering of the cars. However, is it possible to take a regular mustang and put all of the Boss 302 items on it? I have a white 2013 California Special.

What exactly does the red key do? All I know about the red key is that it is "for track use only." Obviously it unlocks the beast, but what exactly is the beast?

Is there not a mechanic that can change the parameters manually?

Stock to Boss

My car was made in 2012, so that would be a no. What is under the Boss that makes it the car it is? I know that there is the intake manifold, H-pipe quad exhaust, and the brembo brakes. Also something with cylinder heads and upgraded Pistons I believe.

Forged internals, different cams, machining done on heads, With Track Key you must run 93 octane and improves acceleration also gives lopey idle. Track key also unlocks launch control function which is cool. Also Boss comes with 3:73 gears and some appearance items inside and out. Adjustable shocks and tower brace, if I think of anything else I will let you know!

The heads have been specially machined by SVT. I was told cams slightly more aggressive but will need to verify that

Biggest difference I've noticed about the Boss versus stock coyote is RPM's wind up quick and you don't want to let off. Motor begs to be rev'd and the harder you drive it the better it handles. Boss does not feel comfortable to me doing speed limit!

Stock to Boss

Anyway I have a Boss but I stumbled upon it. I went to the dealer to purchase a Coyote powered 14 GT and they had a 2012 Boss there with 7500 miles on it and I got it for about the same price. So I got it! I really have not had a lot of time to spend with the car yet I have been slammed busy at work for months with no end in immediate sight.

Are all of the things on the Boss able to be purchased? My build list on American muscle is adding up, but it doesn't have everything I need.

Yes, if you are planning on doing the internals skip the boss internals. They are crap imo. If you are already tearing into the motor do it right.

True if I was building a motor I would not scout out the Boss internals but I wouldn't say they are crap! Depends on what your intent with the car is as far as HP goals. For a production car it is damn good and if you can get one without paying a premium I think it's worth it. I'm not sure what I am going to do with mine yet. Too busy at work!

If I don't go for the boss internals, then it really wouldn't be a boss at all. I want to convert my car to as much of a Boss as possible even though it will never be an official Boss. The Boss is a sharp car that catches a lot of attention and I really like that. It's a project that I really want to take on.
