Auto parts store sells wrong brake pads for 99 Cobra?

So I recently bought a 99 Mustang Cobra about two months ago, and decided to change out the rear brake pads. I went to advance and bought ceramic brakes, but when I tried to put them on they wouldn't fit cuz they were too thick. I ended up grinding down the pads to make them fit. I read online that they sold me gt pads because the manufacturer apparently thinks Cobra and gt pads are the same. Anyone else think its complete BS that the manufacturer can't get this right? Also is there a certain brand that sells the right pads?

cobras have different calipers so yup they should be different from a GT so are 96+ cobras, bullitts, mach 1's etc they should know, i would have taken them back.

thats Advanced AP for ya , NEVER GO there for parts ,, i know they're cheap ,but thay have NO Idea what their doing and sell mostly low quality parts ....
they do carry a good brake pad ,but as in your case you got the wrong stuff ..
the GT takes a 627 pad , where the Cobra takes a 627a ( thinner pad )

Yup.....have a look at the country of manufacture. Made in china. I don't even care of the parts cost more,I actually look to see if it's made in the USA. Not much is made in Canada other that wheat.potash and oil but if I can I try to keep an American working

Things like that happen when a business like that only pays minimum wage or barely over it.

Cobra rear calipers are identical to gt rear calipers...the rear rotors are vented, hence thicker, which require a thinner brake pad to clear them.

I would've taken the pads back had they not been closed when I was putting them on and I needed my car the next day, but I did go in and tell them they have the wrong pads on file on their computer hopefully it won't happen to anyone else at that store.
