Higher idle..

One day recently my '96 was in the garage and my brother decided to show it to his friends and right after he cranked it cold he revved it pretty high...after getting onto him about it we let it sit and I got it out today...I noticed the idle is up to almost 1000rpm...I was wondering maybe him revving it that high cold could have cause a scrape or something that might have altered the compression?
