Thumbs down My results after Dyno tune at Pauls High Performance (PHP)

575wrhp, but a long list of problems. Basically the previous owner wanted to push out large HP without any supporting mods. So he threw a KB 2.3, 60lbs injectors and boost a pump with no other mods. Boy I am glad I went to Paul's to get it checked before I really got into driving this summer.

Problems:
- Lean, lean lean, fuel is maxed out, no more to give
- Voltage drop, horrible. I saw the sheet, it sucked. KB Boost a pump plus huge stereo = no more power for fuel pump, this made my air fuel even worse.
- JTL cold air = SUCK! to big, to many bends, not enough air flow for the blower.
- Throw-out bearing gone, Clutch needs helps
- Running hot on a 40 degree day
- Replace Toe link Bars for extra support against wheel hope due to high HP

Solution:
Clutch cable/Quadrant/Wide-track kit (PHP to install 3 weeks)
Spec stage 2 Clutch (PHP to install 3 week)
Dual Fuel pump upgrade (PHP to install 3 weeks)
Steeda Intake (ordered)(PHP recommendation)
Afco Dual Pass Heat exchanger (ordered)
SCT Mass Air unit
Full tilt Boogie racing Toe Link bars (ordered)
Full tilt Boogie racing Rear Diff support bushings (ordered)
PA 170 Amp Alternator (ordered)

After all this I will be able to put 610-620 down to the ground. I will do high HP pass on the Dyno for numbers then tune it back to 580ish for reliability. It was a long day and a real eye opener. When you push this much HP, you must back it up with everything possible to protect the engine. I should have it all done by mid June.

About the same situation I had. Dynoed at 593 with previous owner. 574 safely with my tuner. My boost a pump is maxed out but safe for now. Good luck bro.

Better to find out what is needed before you did other damage also then have to fix that also.
Sounds like you will have a nice beast on your hands when its done. Good luck and keep us posted.

I think the stereo is your problem....I have a 2.2L KB pushing 20 psi and well, I am only at 85% fuel pump duty cycle with a BAP. I have plenty of room to go.

It's funny, the JLT "high boost" kit is actually a restriction when you try to run over 21 psi because of the bends you mentioned. Talk about a naming fail. lol

Why dial it back? You don't drive WOT all the time...so your "number" tune will be no different than a "dialed back" tune when driving normal on the street.

Pure V

I was told by the pros at PHP that after 615 to the wheels you start cracking Pistons. I want the car to last me till I die or die in it! LOL I mainly want to be safe!

I totally agree with the stereo, but this is my fun car and i GOT TO HAVE JAMS!!! I am and DJ so I got to represent! LOL

There are a lot of people that would disagree with that statement...but I see where you're coming from. My only question is, how often would you be seeing that 615+ hp though? I know i run a pretty aggressive tune (19* max timing) full time...and I DD my cobra...and I probably only see my 600 hp once or twice a week...

Re: My results after Dyno tune at Pauls High Performance (PHP)

glad you found the issues before the engine had problems. There is no point in having 615rwhp on that given dyno vs 575 on it~ if its safer and you feel better about it leave turned back a bit... its just bragging rights anyway to say you have over 600rwhp~ etc it wont matter on a daily driver that extra 30-40rwhp~

You always want some wiggle room, being AT the limit is just asking for trouble. A little bad gas and BAM trouble.

Yes! Spec, thanks for the insight! i always appreciate it. You tend to keep in real! LOl

My Baby gets dropped back of next Saturday the 14th. PHP will have it for a week to upgrade the fuel system and install Stage 2 Spec clutch. And then final Dyno!

Re: My results after Dyno tune at Pauls High Performance (PHP)

its never a constant, just because it makes XXX hp one day the next it can be different, its not just temp its tons of factors so tuning to the limit is just a bad idea as it can change constantly. For example my MAF in cold weather is a bit on the dangerous side...

Looks great Dru. Those subframes will definitely make a difference. It should feel a whole lot stiffer now.

It was night and day difference. I had sub frame connectors on it before. i took them off and replace with this kit. UNREAL feel and my top doesn't shake as much when going over bumps. Good stuff.

Looks sharp. I remember when you first got it and you have changed it to make it yours. Great mods and look forward to seeing the final result.
