Blue flames???

I was driving next to a friend today and he said when I shifted at high rpms that two foot blue flames came out of both pipes. So I took off again and again blue flames! I'm running off road xpipe with dynomax exhaust. Anyone else have this happen or am I too rich or something?

With no cats it's probably normal. Lots of extra fuel being dumped at high rpm's and let off. Are you running chambered mufflers? That may be the only thing that would maybe make me nervous.

I don't know what kind of dynomax they are. But they look like the flowmaster 40 series. Just not flowmaster

Re: Blue flames???

I would bring it to a professional tuner to have him Dyno tune it to get your air fuel ratio back to normal or at least just to verify you are running good. Never hurts, better then blowing motor. But I think my car does the same, such free flowing exhaust with no cats....

Re: Blue flames???

that's pretty normal... just about all cars do that but you never see it cause of cats and mufflers. just unburned fuel in the cylinder that gets pushed out the exhaust valve when u let off the throttle.

my mustang does it and i have mac cat backs and bbk o/r xpipe. andi run an automatic trans

does noone in here watch racing events? you see that on everything from formula1, nascar, grand-am, australian v8 supercars, and even the 4cyl. road racing cars.

I have never had a cop get on his knees and look under my car for cats. That's what the inspection sticker is for. Illegal exhaust ticket is not much of a fine anyways. Wuss. Jk

No cats rule! Cops have better things to do then look under cars for illegal exhaust. If they wanted they could give a RR ticket where you have to repair and report or just pay a $80.00 fine. LOl At least that is the law in Michigan. I will pay $80 monthly before I change my exhaust.

Exhaust note coming from my car says--- Dont F**k with me unless you wanna lose!

believe it or not... a few years ago the sheriff set up a check point in route to "norwalk raceway" here in ohio. those guys had the knee pads and those inspection mirrors attached to the poles so they didnt have to get down too far... look'n for "cat delete", "cut outs", and "open exhaust".

they were check'n regular passeger cars too so the hot rodders didnt feel singled out. needles to say i never took my car to that drag strip.
