auburn locker??

so I'm in the process of rebuilding a built proof rear end in my cobra do to so slicks and a hard life. I've found everything I need from ford racing, but I'm thinking of putting in a auburn locking diff. I found a auburn locking diff for $100 from jegs. my question is there anything special I need to buy to go with it? im not to knowledgable with rear ends. I'm tryin to build something that will hold up to 1000rwhp that's my goal when I come back from deployment in 2013. I'm goin with 4.10s and cheapest route possible. so any input would help thanks guys.

Now this is clutch style right??? If so I like it. My buddy has it in his 57 chevy. He pops wheelies off the line and no problems yet. Seams pretty stout.

Re: auburn locker??

If you truly want to hold that much HP, your best bet is a spool or a detroit locker.

Re: auburn locker??

I have an auburn pro series and i love it, the only thing is that you have to change the fluid on it often otherwise it gets thick and doesnt lube the spider gears well and then the ***** will pop when you take corners at slow speeds

it's a mini spool if that says anything. it's cheaper than goin with the ford racing LSD. but I'm tryin to figure out what would be the best choice LSD or the locker?

A spool or mini spool will give you no slip whatsoever. They tie both axles together 100% of the time. They are not the best option for a regularly street driven car, and they are VERY hard on axles when taking turns....

It depends on what you want when talking about Limited Slip/Posi Track or Locker....if you're actually needing to support high HP, go Locker. If you're going to support 300-600 and you want great street manners, get a Ford 31 spline unit and pack an extra clutch or two in it.
