03 cobra clutch issues.

My clutch started making a ticking noise when I touched the peddle but stopped when I applied pressure so I replaced my clutch release bearing but the ticking continued so I replace clutch cable and quadrant and also added a firewall adjuster. The ticking is still there. Anyone have this problem?

Re: 03 cobra clutch issues.

if it ticks but goes away when you apply a little pressure to the clutch petal it sounds like the throwout bearing, even if its already been replaced.

You should also inspect the shaft the bearing slides on and replace with a steel one check americanmuscle.com but probably have to go with lethalperformance.com

if its a new clutch like spec they can chatter for 500-1k miles

I have the same ticking. Mine is twofold tho. The first is from the clutch quadrant and the slight slack in the cable rattling. The second cause of mine is from the firewall adjuster rattling against the firewall.

I can make the first one stop by putting my foot under the clutch pedal. The second one goes away when I put any kind of downward pressure on the peddle.

Re: 03 cobra clutch issues.

you can try to take up all the slack so the petal is a bit firm, wont hurt it at all as long as its not to firm. You want .5 - .75 or even 1 inch of pushing in the petal before the rpms jump up (slip)
