Fuel Filter replacement problem

So I am changing my fuel filter on my 99 Cobra. I have the fuel disconnect tool. I push it in and it clicks to release the line but I can't get the lines off. I have been trying for 1 1/2 to change a damn fuel filter lol. Any ideas on something I am missing or doing wrong?

Re: Fuel Filter replacement problem

if you have the right size tool, it shouldn't be bad. when it clicks rotate it around and see if it'll release.

Re: Fuel Filter replacement problem

I just did this yesterday. As Tib said rotate the tool while you push it off. If that doesn't work, loosen any brackets that may be holding the filter to see if that helps.

I remember it being a little pain for me yesterday.

No worries bro! Just like Drodriguez2009 said, you might have a bunch of junk or corrosion around the fuel filter attachments. Let us know!

Re: Fuel Filter replacement problem

I have a metal one. Maybe I should try the plastic one. I will try it Monday and if that doesn't work I am just taking it in to have the filter changed. That will be a first.

They are pretty cheap at the parts store. I wouldn't take it to the dealer take it to a small shop like jiffy lube

Re: Fuel Filter replacement problem

Yeah that's my plan, If I can't get it off myself I am taking it to Jiffy lube right down the road.
