irs to sra swap

Ok I have been lookin at my options with my when it comes to fixing this rearend. I think its just gonna be cheaper for me to swap to sra and throw my gears into a junkyard 8.8 sra. So what exactly is required to swap from irs to sra? Is a simple pull the irs out and bolt the sra in place or is there more to it?

Re: irs to sra swap

consider http://www.fulltiltboogieracing.com upgrades to fix your IRS and make it one mean setup, if you only want to drag race, dont really care about handling, and dont mind the far harsher ride then the SRA may be for you.

The ride quality is almost similar and usually unnoticiable when mated with the correct suspension components. You will need Struts, Springs, Speed Sensors, sway bar, short pinion snubber, and the piece to mate with the drive shaft from the SRA(lost at words) upper and lower control arms, and probably some small peices I am forgetting. The weight loss is very noticiable and the SRA is Def more entertaining...preferably you will want to look at the SN95 model cars for the swap.and 98-04 over the 94-95s

Well fulltilt didn't have axles. Yea I don't really want to do a sra swap but I can't find 28 spline axles anywhere. Id up grade to 31 splines but I don't have the money to do that now or before. And thanks guys for the input

Anyone have any input on taking a junkyard 9in and making it work with this car? Like spring perchs, control arm mounts and shock mounts what this entails? Maybe some links I have no luck with searching forums for things. I can't find any 8.8s local and I know 9s are common in older 70-80 models ford trucks
