Buying a cobra help

Hey guys ive owned 2 mustangs since I turned 18. A v6 n a gt and now I want to get a cobra. I knw that the best are the 03 n 04 but their like 18+k. So I'm looking for a 99-02 and I found 2. A 99 white mustang for 8900 but it had 120k miles is it still a good deal or not? An the other one is a 02 cobra yes I said an 02 cobra it has 80k miles and it's going for 11.5k so which one is a better deal

02 better man. That 99 had too many miles. Plus im pretty sure all of those miles aint granny shifting miles either. But keep looking you might strike gold. Got my 99 for 11.5 with 47k

Oh ok but since it's an 02 won't it be harder to find parts and work on it or is it just the same as an 01

Is that an original Australian car? The cobra was not released in the US that year.

Re: Buying a cobra help

I'd do a carfax on the vin. If for some reason some leftover 01's were called 02's.....then it could be legit. If it has DOHC valve covers...then it could be legit as well.

However, to answer your other question....finding parts for an 02 cobra vs an 01 cobra is kind of like finding parts for an 02 gt vs an 01 gt. It's all the same stuff. The 02 cobra wasn't a special one off project...it was just an exported car.

Make sure they prove its a cobra if you go after the 02. It sounds 99.9999% fake to me without seeing pics of it.

I'd say hold off, there are tons of cobras being sold. I just bought a babied 96 cobra with 57k for 7200. Deals are out there, it's hard but take your time. You'll know "the one" you should get, it'll be like a slap in the face.

Watch the 99s as they had recall issues.

I would've gone with the Termi over the Saleen personally. Not a huge fan of all the body kit additions that Saleens add on but it is still a STANG so have fun

Yeah i agree, but where are u gonna find one for 11 grand?

He made a good choice for the money. He could have bought like a 99 cobra with that amount...

I'd rather have a saleen than a pre 03 cobra.

Umm you can get into a Terminator for $12k easy! You will be so much more happy! Just saying.

It's your lucky day! $12,000 on a Lemon/defect. Bu there is nothing wrong with the car. Pick it up! Best thing you will ever do!

Re: Buying a cobra help

12k for an 03 cobra is VERY cheap, the prices drop over time of course but they are still bringing 16-18k in good shape for an 03

There is a black 99 cobra with a Vortech supercharger, many mods, black 17x9/10 wheels and exhaust for $10,000 with 86k miles. It's in San Diego California though. Search it up on Craigslist if you're still looking.

I was thinking on getting this car myself because it's a great deal, but I'm saving up for a Terminator :p

Re: Buying a cobra help

I was looking at 02 Saleen Verts when I got my SB Termi. They are sweet cars and you can make them fast, but someone with a stock Termi with pullies and exhaust could possibly give you a run for your money. In the end you need to get what YOU want and not what everyone else tells you to. In the end a Saleen is a sweet ride but not necessarily the fastest.
