speaker problem 02 Cobra

The speaker in the right hand door of my Cobra just buzzes softly to the music when playing. Has any one had a similar experience? Speaker blown, or is there a fix?

Re: speaker problem 02 Cobra

it may need replacing, take the door panel off and just see if its loose and if its not look for anything that could be rattling (maybe pull the speaker out and look behind it). Finally look for tears on the speaker surround, thats probably what it is though.

Also nice having an 02 cobra, dont see them and people usually jump in with "they didnt make them" lol then I saw your from Australia , got any pics of the interior?

I have already removed the door panel and speaker. There were no obstructions around the speaker and no signs of wear or damage. I hooked up an old spare speaker I found, which worked. Looks like I'm up for a new set of speakers then, which is what I was expecting. Thanks for your advice. I'll post some photos today, which will be yesterday for you. LOL.

Some things of interest:
The dash was made in USA as a mirror reverse, but the lines dont quite match up with doors. The headlight switch is from a Ford Falcon, and the hood release is still on the left hand side............and the floor needs a vaccuum :-s

That looks like the most foreign thing.. Very interesting. I couldn't imagine shifting with my left hand.

Re: speaker problem 02 Cobra

Ok, here are two youtube links. The first one is how to replace a side mirror, however the first part of the clip shows how to remove the tweeter speaker.

This guy is definately from the South.

the next link shows how to remove and replace the door panel.

Personally, I found it took a little longer than the Youtube "experts".

I will be buying two new front speakers today and get my door panel back on.
It's no fun driving with wires, switches and plugs hanging out of the door, and no handle to shut the door with.

Re: speaker problem 02 Cobra

For those who have been following this thread, I purchased and installed a pair of Rockford Fosgate Punch speakers which are the same size as the stock ones in the doors. The only difficulty I had was figuring out which speaker wires were Positive and negative. I found yet another link on youtube which will shows how to quickly identify the terminals.

I hope this helps you Bryangb7 and others who have experienced speaker problems.
