To all those who helped me figure out how to wire my alpine into my Mach 460 Thxs so much it's been a couple days and I have no problems. Well now I'm having oil pressure issues. Well I drive a 1996 svt
cobra mystic. I bought the car 4 months ago with 96643 miles on it. Right at 97000 my oil pressure went crazy. It would sit below low at all times except when I'd stomp the gas it would rise in unison with the tach, well I fixed that. I just wiggled the wire on the pressure sensor and it started acting normally again. I didn't have any problems with it till about 70 miles ago. Now what it's doing is staying at normal oil pressure between the r and the m. But it if u advance the throttle the pressure will drop below the n. if I put it to the floor it'll drop to the red line once over 3500 rpm's. Until 5000 rpm's were it'll pick back up to just below the n. but as soon as I put in neutral it'll jump back to normal. I replaced the oil today. I added some synthetic Lucas heavy duty oil stabilizer, it helped like the needle doesn't drop quite as far but still drops.
I've talked to a couple friends of mine they said its one of four things. Either my pressure switch is bad, the gauge is bad, the pump is bad/clogged, or what my buddy eddy said was that it was common in the 302's for the crank/rod bearings to go bad which will cause pressure problems (I've never heard of such a thing). So I bought a underwood wet gauge to install so I can eliminate the gauge and pressure switch but I have no idea were I should tie it in at.
Thxs so much to anybody who can take the time out to read this post and shoot me some ideas. I also wanted to say u know I have been driving fords all my life. I luv my cobra and I appreciate all the support from the community in this forum. Long live the mustang's
