Found two cobras help me decide?

Found a 03 silver cobra with 60k miles on it very good condition and I found a 04 cobra with 80k on it also in very good condition. They are both the same price roughly, should I go with lower miles and a year older or the newer one with more miles. Any help is much apperciated

I would go with lower miles, less time for abuse... But still test drive and check them both over, may find something undesirable about one of them

Theyre basically the exact same car asside for minor upgradez in 04' so i wouldnt worry about the 1 yr. Difference between them. Take em for a test drive and make sure everything working properly and make your decision offf that. Ask about the upgrades too.

Each one is 18000 the 04 has a few more mods then the 03. The 04 has a pulley, exhaust, intake, heat exchanger, tuner and short throw. The 03 has a exhaust intake and short row. I'm going to drive them both but assuming I can't find anything wrong with either of them it's going to be a tough decision

Hmm, sounds alot more likely that the 04 would've been abused especially with those mods, assuming there is nothing wrong with the 03 I would jump on that one

Just use your head ( i dont mean boner either head) and ask any question that you can think of. Make sure that isnt and leaks, always good to check fluid level and color. I heard alot about the stock cobra heads having a slight tick from the valve train, also have heard people say dont worry about it too. Ultimately its in the eyes of the beholder. Just go there not having made your mind up that you are leaving with the car. Thats what i did!

Do this, just look undercar and listen for anything unusual or feel for anything unusual driving a car

Re: Found two cobras help me decide?

you have given so little information I cant really tell you what to do. Both cars need to be FULLY inspected, and if modded need to be checked over to ensure it was done right, if a tune was needed it was tuned right etc etc.

I would have a really good mechanic go over it, especially one that knows those motors good~ pull and check the plugs and all sorts of stuff to determine what condition the car is in (valve leak, engine tick, oasis report from ford so you can see any claims on the car done at ford etc)

I'd without a doubt lean towards the one with least amount mods IMO. The lower miles also helps out but again ensure both have been taken care of. The fact is.... People who buy these cars tend to push them and drive them hard but finding one that hasn't been driven hard alot is the key.

Good luck with both man.

Re: Found two cobras help me decide?

Copy the link to those 2 cars and post them on SVTperformance.com asking for help identifying them or the previous owners. SVT is a tight knit community so they can help you a ton. Also those Cobra are notorious for a slight clunk in the rear but don't worry,it's a simple fix.

Re: Found two cobras help me decide?

Don't rush into buying one, take your time and find the one you want. I spent over a year looking for mine and wouldn't settle for anything less than exactly what I wanted. Was well worth it and have had it for 4 years now with no issues I didn't cause.

If you are talking about the one in Garland (Empire Motors) please don't waste your time.....they are a joke and sell or should I say try and pass some real lemons off as quality cars.

These guys are a joke....

All I can say is stay away from Empire motors. They keep about 5-6 Termis on the lot at all times but you have to be extra careful with them. You can still check them out but don't let them BS you on the phone about how clean the cars is. Check for yourself and take it to your mechanic.

BTW,they are located in Garland TX.

Ok I found a 2003 cobra 80,000 miles bone stock he wants 19k. I think he is a little high but I'd be willing to pay a little high if it's truly bone stock. What do you guys think? Another one is a 2004 it's silver it's on texashotrides.com if anyone wants to look. Thanks

It all depends on your preference. 19 seems a little high. But i'd pay that too if it was really well taken care of. I personally would stray away from anything over 80k. It's hard to tell sometimes how hard those were beat on.

Sometimes you gotta wait a couple months to find the right one. Search everyday. I chicken hawk "old" people that pamper their rides. You should be able to find an original owner with records, reciepts, etc. Pretty easy. The less mods the safer in my opinion. It'll stick out like a sore thumb. But waiting is the key..

It's hard to give an accurate opinion by looking at the car online. Check it out in person and take a knowledgable friend for help. You'll find it.

I know that's prob not the answer you were looking for but we are limited here from our computers. Good luck. Please ost some pics here when you get one!!

Re: Found two cobras help me decide?

aim for a bone stoke 40-60k mile cobra for 18k, should be about right for an 03, and 04 will be about 1k more (19k).
