To Do List for my 99 Cobra

This is a basic list of what I want to get done, over a period of time of course because I am nowhere near RICH lol. I want to get ideas, opinions, thoughts etc...

1) I'm replacing the grille on the front with the cobra snake emblem
2) I'm putting the silver lettering on the Mustang bumper
3) I'm getting a exhaust job done on it... Borla stingers catback and the Bassani catted X-pipe (these are street legal right, I saw nowhere where it said they were not......)
4) Blacking out all lights (are there any sequential taillights out there that are blacked out?)
5) Black bullitt wheels with rivets.... It says deep dish for the 18s which is what is on the back wheels, will those work? I really don't know much about anything.. lol
6) also replacing the rotors and getting red Cobra calipers
7) getting a Stalker Mustang Ram Air Hood
8) eventually I might do some body work to it, body kit and I am probably dropping a new engine and supercharger in it eventually!
9) I'm also putting in a new cd player as we speak and hope to get a sound system in it sooner than later....
10) the 03/04 bumer that says COBRA instead of MUSTANG eventually...

Thoughts ideas comments??

Before pix:

Yes deep dish 18's will fit and look great, exactly whats on mine, youll want a little taller wider tire in the rear for better look and performance

consider the 03/04 cobra rear bumper, it looks much cleaner to me than the 09/01 version~

nope, those are not the stock wheels.

If you want to get some custom wheels like I have let me know, they usually run about 2400 a set base price and up from there but you get VERY nice rims you dont see regularly.

Re: To Do List for my 99 Cobra

I was thinking about ordering these wheels: Mustang´┐Ż Bullitt Wheel

Okay guys guess I need to get a 03/04 bumper instead then!!!

lowflyn... I really like the black tail lights... do they make covers like mine blacked out? or do you mean why do I want sequentials instead of what I have? lol

ColdDogCat- new transmission... hmm maybe lol

Is there anyway to make your rotors shiny again? Mine were not taken care of and they look almost rusted... unless they are? heck if i know. or do I just need to buy new ones?

Re: To Do List for my 99 Cobra

Have you ran the vin to see if it's had the recall done?

Also, the 99/01 tail lights are pretty sought after. I would keep them and add the 03-04 bumpers like said above.

Re: To Do List for my 99 Cobra

We checked the intake manifold (?) to see if it had the blue/green paint, and it did so i'm assuming it did have it done, and i dont remember seeing a recall when i checked the carfax when i bought it! and thank you. didn't know that about my taillights lol

Re: To Do List for my 99 Cobra

Well you are right about the sticker or paint that they use on the manifold but take the title in to any ford dealer and have them run the vin. They can show you a history of all the work that was done to it......even the recall work. I did this when I bought my 99 Cobra. I wouldn't tint those tail lights, they are awesome. If anything you could probably buy a set of new edge tail lights, have them tinted and then sell the Cobra amber tail lights for a nice price if you really want to go that route.

Re: To Do List for my 99 Cobra

Sweet... I saw a tinting kit? thingy in American Muscle magazine I believe... would that work for tinting the tail lights? I just don't want it to look stupid if I have the front tinted and the back not! and cool about the dealership thing thanks!

There is simple headlight/tail light blackout covers you can buy at Advance auto and whatnot that you can put on and take off any time

Re: To Do List for my 99 Cobra

dont put headlight/tail light covers. The 99-01 cobras have rare tail lights as they have the amber turn signals and other mustangs do not share this (they are also COSTLY to replace)

as far as rust on the rotors, take them off sand them (where the rust is dont sand the area where the brake pad touches)

then use high temp engine paint in what ever color (I recommend a color close to the metal color) and paint them. You can get some paint on the area the brake caliper will touch just go slow when driving the first bit while it eats away the paint.

Remember to paint the top edges as well. I did this and mine say looking really good.

Re: To Do List for my 99 Cobra

Thanks guys! I've decided to leave the taillights (thanks to you guys ) and get a light tint put on them I think it will be better that way and nicer...

Thanks for the input on the rotors, I took some pictures of them will post them in a sec.

We got my head unit put in finally, anyone know where I can get a cheapish priced bezel??

the rotors:

see the bezel is all jacked up, it looks like someone stole the cd player from it... and the vents are broken grr

anyways waiting for the cobra emblem to show up and the silver lettering for the rear bumper

Re: To Do List for my 99 Cobra

yea you can make your brake area look like new, just will take some TLC and spray paint (and sand paper/tape lol).

for the center console you can buy one from a junk yard or online and replace it, you could go to a double din as well if you want to go that route and remove the crappy single din BS

Re: To Do List for my 99 Cobra

You may also wanna look at gettin rid of what we call the 4x4 look. Look at getting some suspension work done Shocks, struts, cc plates, springs. These cars look more aggressive once they are lowered a bit. I use to rock some HR Supersport lowering springs..they were pretty sweet

Sequential taillights has to do with a wiring harness not the plastic lenses. So you can get blackout lenses and purchase the wiring harness for the sequentials. I'm kicking myself in the *** now because when I totaled my Cobra I didn't take the wiring harness out and I see now those jokers cost like $130 dollars.
