forged internals for a 2001 Cobra

ok, so i been thinking about refreshing the engine in my cobra. to be more specific, forged internals, my goal is 500 hp with no power adder, i want my car naturally aspirated, is this possible with the 32 valve engine, and if so, what brands and parts should i buy first, ported heads? what ratio?, and all that stuff. only mods i have right now, is the hurst short shifter, spec stage II clutch, magnaflow exhaust with catted X pipe, and a 150 nitrous thats never been used. any help and tips are greatly appreciated

Re: forged internals for a 2001 Cobra

Better go with a big bore stroker!! But still 500 is a lot for a n/a motor..that is unless you have a LOT of money

Re: forged internals for a 2001 Cobra

I have heard of a few that got 550rwhp out of them, but those guys were engine builders with lots of secrets and money lol, but i really think that you could hit 400 at the wheels or really close with your motor...bored/stroked, ported heads, ported intake, aggressive cams, and a awesoem tune.

Re: forged internals for a 2001 Cobra

haha yeah me to..im kinda in the same boat as you, in the process of building mine up. Mine is forged bored .020 over and stroked...ended up with roughly 301 ci, havent tuned it yet or dynoed it but when i do ill tell you my numbers for a good start there. For heads i would say aftermarket..at least to the exteent of 03/04 cobra heads and yeah have them ported and all, and id just take a suggestion from whoever does your heads for what cams will work best with those heads

Go look at cartechbooks google it. Maybe just cartech. And they have everything from restoring a 1964.5 to how to build a beast coyote.

Short block- 5k
Ported Heads Stage 2- 2.8k
Ported Heads Full Race- 7.8k(not needed)
Fr500 Head- look to be about 1k each
Couldn't get the site to load so here is the part #
M-6049-T46 and M-6050-T46

Gasket/Heads Change Kit- 105
Cams set-800
Steeda UDP- 250
Intake Short Runner- 1k
Fr500 Intake- Can't find
Air Filter K&N- like 30$
Bosch Fuel Pump- 100-200
High Flow Rails- 200
Injectors- 360
Mass air- 189
Headers- cant find for a full looks system for a 4v on their site is 1.5k
X Pipe- Custom
Cat Back- Custom
Personal experience having a custom cat back made ran me 540
Tuner- 379+dyno(in your area)
Axle Ratio: 4.10-4.56- 129-225

About 11-12k build.

Probably could buy a 5.0 stroker for less and get all the parts for the lower end and do it all cheaper.

To have a long block made from them with the 5.0 big bore would run about the same price.

Re: forged internals for a 2001 Cobra

For that kind of money I think I could settle with 400hp.

All numbers were at the wheels so everyone knows.
The previous is a 500rwhp
This is a 405rwhp.
PS the second pic is the first paragraph.
