New Cobra Owner Here!

Hey everybody!! Just thought I'd share with y'all that I will be going in the morning to sign the papers on this 2001 Cobra. Just sold my 98 GT the other day so it ought to be a pretty big change. Haha. Definitely ready to learn some new stuff. Any certain maintenance tips or anything for a Cobra that might would be different from my GT will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Awesome! Clean looking Cobra. It looks like your stock cold air setup is the same as the Mach1. This is the first time I've seen a stock setup on a Cobra!

Attachment 54688

That opening on the airbox is where the shaker hood ducting connects

Nice! Maybe it's just the pics, but the front looks higher than the rear?
Anyway, it's an awesome upgrade from your previous ride. Congrats.

upkeep is basically the same since its not supercharged etc nothing really extra. It does have the IRS but no real upkeep there for the most part outside of normal.

Thank you!! And really it already has most of everything I'd want to do to it. I'm probably gonna do a new full set of lowering springs pretty soon though.

Congratulations on your new ride. I can't believe you got it for just $6200, how many miles? It looks real nice. Could use a cleaning and detail under the hood. Last year we paid $10,500 for our 96 but it was a garage queen, really taken care of and only 38,500 miles when we bought it. I love the color. Why did he swap out the rear?

Thanks! And yea. Definitely need to detail under the hood. Lol. It has 120,000 miles, but the engine, tranny, and rearend were all redone at 103,000 miles. And I honestly don't know about the rearend. He was building it up for a turbo so I guess he just liked the solid rearend better.

I don't think I've said what mods it has either. Lol. It has 3:73s, custom BAMA tune, 40 Series Flows, Pro 5.0 Short Shifter, Stage 2 Clutch, limited slip differential, 31 spline Moser axles, and forged internals. (If that counts as a mod.) Lol.

And also, if anyone would have an approximate RWHP number for it, let me know... I know you can't be exact but maybe someone would have a guess.

Thanks guys!

Re: New Cobra Owner Here!

Thanks for the reply and info. A custom BAMA tuner and tune is next mod on the list for my 96 Cobra. As far as guesstimating the HP. I would say take the factory number add maybe 25 for the custom tune and better flowing exhaust. Then times that by .85 to get RWHP. Could be more than that though. Ok factory is 320 at flywheel.
