Re: 96 cobra

I dont think you'll like it. Yes its a 4v Cobra but its still early gen SN95. And actually the 2v has more torque than the 96-98 4v not by much but still more. 300 to 302...lol But I wanted a 4v and loved my New Edge so I built one. Pop in some cams and a tune and there you go.

Thanks for the input guys, but the thing with my car is it is fresh paint but it's not the best job, and I think my passenger side head needs re done and I have a terrible manifold leak I just don't have the funds to fix it

And so all the more reason not to dive into something that is alittle more costly to operate. Premium gas, if something happens engine wise its more costly. Imo just keep the car and fix the issues.

My buddy bought one identical to that one and sold it three months later because he said it was a dog. He drove my '95 and said mine felt more powerful. I've always been told to never buy a first year run of a motor because they always have the most problems

I run premium in my car anyway, but with only 93k miles I would think it would b ok and to only have exhaust work should b a string engine but like I've says idk much about these cobra engines

dude, did he come through? I just went from a 99 gt with all the bolt ons and bought a 1996 cobra with 57k miles and wow, night and day.. I feel like the cobras just drive better and respond more to upgrades. I do miss that new body style though...

that cobra looked clean, i would have hopped on it.

---------- Post added at 08:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:44 PM ----------

I've actually had this cobra at least 6-7 months and have had no problems at all. any car can be abused. Just watch out for the signs.

I can deg agree with this, when I bought my 98 cobra with 72000 miles. I asked how many times it was owned and looked it up on carfax. Luckly, i'm the third owner and the first owner put most of the miles on it driving on the highway back and fourth to work because he lived in a rual area. The 2nd owner only put 2000 miles on it, the car is in more then perfect condition even had the new car smell. So there are good cobra's out there or a good deal.

We bought our 96 last July, love it. Previous owner babied it, it only had 38,700 miles. He only put on an average of 1500 miles per year. Ours has Flowmaster exhaust, new H pipe, no Cats, K& N cold air kit, Ford Racing 17x9 Cobra wheels, B&M short shift kit, Hawk brake pads, and a Superchip. Back in 96 the GT was 225hp the Cobra 305. The Cobra engines were all had assembled by a 2man team with beefed up parts. Double Overhead Cam. 0-60 5.9. 1/4 13.9 top speed 152. They are awesome engines if not abused. Ours was basically in like new condition. Just having 1st major incident now. I ran battery down and had to Jump car and blew the AC clutch relay. Putting a used one in tomorrow. Car is very fast stock. Ours a bit faster. Also previous owner gave us all the original parts in pristine condition in case anyone wants to restore to factory condition. They are great engines IMHO. Cobras also had upgraded racing clutch, bigger vented disc brakes all around also upgraded suspension, anti roll bars etc.. A 96 Cobra sold for $27,900 in 96 they are not just a another GT. We paid $10,500 which was going rate for low mileage garage queen. Also previous owner only used Royal purple oil since new and 93 Octane Shell or Sunoco gas. To run their best they need 93 Octane. I think 6900 is a fair price if you have it checked out by a mechanic you trust. We did. I've read the forums religiously since I bought mine there are many cobras out there with 125-150k miles on them. When we take ours to shows or cruises we get lots of compliments. Most people can't believe it's a 96. I like the style. Only issue is Black is very hard to maintain. It shows every scratch. I just detailed ours, buffing out the paint of scratches and swirl marks so now it looks even better. Can't wait to get it back. I will Never jump start it again. I say it's worth serious consideration. Dave

Re: 96 cobra

Spiney, I can agree with you black is a very hard color to keep clean and you really have to watch out when you wash it too with the mitts you use. From what I have been told mine gets alot of looks and compliments when my parents take it out, I havent yet to see it because im not at home right now.

yeah thats true, but a car note is a car note that I dont want lol...I could have paid half on the car but it would have ate up all of my money for the GT and what I wanted to do it. I def wont trade either cars in so....would be nice to have one though....but I had to put getting a house first over a termi though.

Why?...looking at the pic to the left it seems like its a great looking car? What i thought about doing was coming across a used blower from a 03 and putting it on my 98....im sure it would work but I dunno yet.

It is a beautiful car. So far it's the cleanest one i've seen in my area. People keep trying to steel it. Had to put it in storage... I wonder about a used blower... How much wud they cost.

Up for sale is my 1996 Cobra with a 03 cobra swap

1996 Mustang cobra
03 Cobra motor with Supercharger
6 speed manual trans
MMR 900 Block
410 Gears
Long tube headers
70mm Accufab throttle body
Suspension work

Anthracite FR500s

17x10.5 Rear

The entire swap was done professionally by Advanced Auto
Dyno and Tune was done by Nextgen.

445RWHP & 440 TORQUE

This car has been built with all the tasteful mods in mind
And always had its routine maintenance done on time.
Its a real head turner everywhere I go.
It's a turn-key car looking for a new home.
The time has come that I move onto bigger and better projects
Which is the reason for the sale. I want the car to go to a real Mustang enthusiast who will continue take care of it the same way I did.

More pics are available upon request.
