Removing cats

Obviously my Cel will come on.. Does anyone know what the code will be?

Not sure what the code is. My 97 cats were deleted. I just drove it with the cel on. AM said a tune will turn it off.

Tune will take cage of it and if you get a handheld, most will read any of the codes that pop up

Somebody told me that a CEL won't come on if you delete the cats? Is that true? I thought he was lying.

Cel will come on because you delete the O2 sensors. A tune will take care of it.

You have to have them shut off.

The CEL comes on because you took the cats out not the o2's. on a 97 you need to get mil eliminators to shut it off. You can't tune a 97 with a handheld tuner due to the fact that it does NOT have a EEPROM chip. 98 and up all have EEPROMs in them.

Yea i have mils. I even got another brand new set bcuz i still have the lean code just incase one maybe bad but i havent put the new one on yet. Funny thing is i replaced both o2s on bank 2 then cleared the code, drove it for 2 days, passed emissions, very next day the same code came back up.. WTF lol??? i cant figure it out

Not sure what you're talking about their, I have no cats with mil eliminators and the cel was still on for the o2 sensors, got my tuner, put the tune on and no more cel

Mil Eliminators seem to work about half the time. You could try the spark plug fouler trick.

Ive never heard that you have to have mil's and a tune.. If you get it tuned then couldnt you just have them shut off and avoid mil's completly.. I cant see why you would need to do both.. I may be wrong so im just asking?

It would be one or the other. Both is overkill.

Help me out Rosco idk what i need to do here. I got a p0174 system to lean bank 2. no cats w mil's. New intake gaskets. New MAF. New coolant temp sensor. New o2s on driverside upstream and down.. I still have this code and i dont know what else to do.. Oh yea and no vacuum leaks either

I just got the eliminators until I could get the tune and the eliminators I got ended up not working properly, I just tried the cheaper route first

Have you changed the exhaust manifolds on it? Have you tried switching the mil eliminators to see if the code goes away or switches banks? Did it only give you that single generic code? No manufacturer codes?
