The original tranny for that year is one of the best ford has mass produced, i think it's the t-56, correct me if im wrong but that 6 speed tranny is awesome! Get another OE tranny or just rebuild yours with an upgraded clutch, flywheel the WHOLE works and your cobra will run like a new toy. Good luck

Hey thanks! And yea you're right I was just wondering if there was anything better the tranny is fine it works perfect. I was just wondering if there was one that was smoother. Or I could just be bad at shifting lol

Do you have the factory shifter? Aftermarket shifter fixes most issues. No more missed gears.

+1, if you still have the stock shifter then open a new browser and go order an MGW short throw shifter. Do it right now.

My very first mustang was an 02 gt auto. Loved it but sadly it's no longer with us.

Yea man with that milage you dont need anything but a short shifter, the difference is night and day!.
I have an SR performance short throw shifter on my 97 cobra, i drove a friend's cobra without the short shifter and i hated it so bad!
