Getting a cobra

Hey lads. I am in the market for a 03-04 Cobra. While looking at the classifieds in Los Angeles I noticed a spike in price from the 03 to the 04. Is there any reason why I should stick to finding a 04 over a 03?

Thanks for the help!

Yeah the 04s are guaranteed to have the revised heads. Also they are a year newer.

Its not just the revised heads, there are more revisions done to the 04. So an 04 is definitely the way to go. A liitle pricier, but well worth it

Lol...no. No difference.

The head issue was fixed in the early 03 runs. My car was built 02/03 and I have had no issues.

The difference is probably the ten year mark. Alot of places won't loan 20k for a 10 year old car.

Please elaborate on these differences because as long as the 03 has the blue stripe heads there are none...

Unless you get an anniversary edition in 04 which is just an appearnace package.

I just say 04 because there ARE some 03s that have the head issues still out there and if you get an 04 that is one less thing to have to look for. And yeah the 10th anniversary stuff. But if you know what you are looking at and don't mind verifying the 03 has the fixed heads with more than 5 plug threads you are GTG with an 03.

*sigh

The blue stripe means nothing. The only way to know is check oasis or the actual part number on the head.

The tick happened on a small amount of vehicles and developed early in the mileage. Has never led to any engine failures...

Lol. Its not just the big things like heads that get revised, google it. And by the way the blue stripe doesn't mean anything.

Lol, ok there are no MEANINGFUL changes from 03 to 04... As in the OP wanted to know if one was better than the other, no they are not, they are the same powertrain with minor cosmetics like pretty much any year which would go without saying...

As for the blue stripe, that's what I get for listening to the rumor mill. Good to know. One good thing to do would be to pull a spark plug and take a feeler gauge to see how many threads are in those heads which is the big one. Most 03s had the 4 thread plug holes. 04s were revised, this I do know. I also have part numbers somewhere which you could just look at vs blue paint lol.
