from the article:

I don't like the wing and that pretty much makes me not a buyer on that. Because once I take a sawzall and cut the wing off the value will plummet. Other than that it's cool and hopefully somebody will buy it and actually drive it.

Yea, well I just looked at 3 cars today in the same price range, with a huge performance gap from the cobra R...
It's still my favorite sn-95 by far...
One day...

Question is would it be better to buy that or a Boss Laguna Seca? Probably about the same money......

I'm not anti coyote, I just don't like the updated body style (10-14). I wouldn't mind having a 11-12 GT/CS or a boss. The GT/CS body kit looks much better than the regular GT. The only thing I have against the coyote is I don't like how raspy it gets when you do headers and an xpipe.
I'm aware that the boss leguna seca would be a better buy compared to a cobra r. Which you can make anything fast...
I'm actually looking at a 14 mustang at the moment, but it isn't a GT...

Interesting that 2000 Cobra R is pretty much same price as it was when new. MY uncle sold my mom his 99 Cobra in anticipation of purchasing the 2000 Cobra R for a collector's item. He ended up getting into diesel trucks instead, Doesn't seem to have appreciated much.

I don't think they will get what they are asking I think it will sell in the low 40's.

Someone will get a nice car for that price. I always liked the idea of a factory "tuned" car. As I recall it had an interesting mix of aftermarket parts from Eibach, Bassani, Borla, etc installed from the factory. A tuner car already modded for a lazy bum like me!

Jack Roush basically made the 2000 R for ford. He suggested many of the parts going into it along with the fine tuning... It should be called a 2000 Cobra Roush...

I don't think that very many of them sold for less than $60k when they were new.
They haven't appreciated at all. Just like almost every other vehicle that is less than 30 years old, it takes a while before they will appreciate significantly.
They haven't depreciated significantly, though, like other "collector" vehicles have, and seem to be holding their value fairly well.

It's a shame that the original owner of that car didn't drive it and enjoy it a bit more. The market value would still be about the same, and life is too short to let "collector items" sit in the garage for decades...

When that car came out that kind of performance was unheard of....not so much anymore

Another deciding factor for these cars was the only way ford would sell you one is if you had an active racing license. Ford tried to prevent the Rs from setting in some car collection, when they should've been tearing up some circuits.
And there is in fact one American car produced in this century that has appreciated in value...

There are many cars produced in this century that have appreciated greatly... It's just the cars built in the last 20 or so years, where the list is pretty short.

The Ford GT is the only one that I can think of, offhand.

Looks like bids on Ebay for Cobra R went up to $49,550, reserve not met, then seller re-listed item. You would think seller would have better luck taking it to one of those fancy car auctions you see on tv.

I don't know what he's expecting to get out of it but whoever owns it probably can afford to be patient
