Warping Chin Spoiler..

I remember on my last Mustang when I put the chin spoiler on, it warped over a period of time.. I'm looking at putting one on my new Stang and want to avoid this. Is it something I did wrong, or..?

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

I've never had one on my stang so I wouldn't know
I've definately thought about it cause they do look awesome but if it warps over time I don't wanna spend the money on one

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

what front bumper is it, what chin spoiler is it, and how did you attach it?

I've had a Mach1 chin spoiler on my GT front bumper, and never any problems.

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

i put a chin spoiler on mine around christmas and its kinda warped too. but i don't care for the fitment of the spoiler to begin with. thought it would have fit flush with the bumper and it doesn't. it was a christmas gift from my ex so i smiled and said it looked great but i'm hoping to find one of better quality that isn't so prone to warping. i hate to do it, because i love the site and i'm a frequent customer of the site, but i got mine from American Muscle. installed it according to their video instructions. i just hate the fact that it comes basically rolled up in a box. i think thats one of the reasons mine looks so warped. it never really straightened out from being in the box...

That's where I was gonna order mine. The last one i got wasnt straight when I bought it. So I guess that answers my question and leads me to the next.

If it comes rolled or jammed in a box how do you get it to straighten before install, just leave it out n give it time?

I got mine from late Model restoration and have had no problems. Mine is also a Mach 1 chin spoiler and it's been on the 2004 GT since 05. I have had no problems with warping or fitment. To be honest I can't remember how it was shipped.

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

I've had mine from American Muscle (rolled up in a box) since 08 and I don't have any warping or issues.

I laid mine out with a few textbooks on each end for a day and it was fine. I also adjusted mine on the bumper about 3 times to where I liked it...it doesn't look like the ones on the Mach 1's and it isn't flush with the front of the bumper.

I do armor all it everytime I wash the car and am extremely careful near parking blocks and curbs. It still looks brand new.

Nothing wrong with that man...I wish more people were like that.

The guy who owned the F-150 I just bought was the opposite of you...he apparently wasn't worried about the "little things when they happened...slight scuffs and paint residue on the console ...thank god for excellent car cleaning products.

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

Quick question, although it's not concerning a warping chin spoiler.. it does concern a chin spoiler.

Has anyone here gotten a painted chin spoiler that has pictures or know anyone who has one?

Are you talking 99-04 body style? I painted the one on my '05, (yellow), it's in my garage.

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

Yes, 99-04 body style. I don't recall seeing one and thought it'd look sick if I got it painted.. then again, if I hit it on a curb or some **** I'd be 10 times more pissed. I really only have tinting, wheels, and a chin spoiler till my cars exterior is done.

I have never seen a 99-04 painted. I would leave it because that plastic I would think is hard to get paint to stick to anyway.

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

Well it'd take a hell of a lot more work than painting a piece, but I think it'd be a sick unique look and worth the labor. I was just wondering if they sold them for the 99-04 pre-painted like they do for the 05+.

Thanks for your help man.

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

I've seen them painted in numerous colors ~ sonic blue, redfire, black...they look ok. I personally prefer the black finish against the factory color, makes it look more aggressive like the older boss stangs etc.

Plus 2 reasons I wouldn't do it:
1. If you dd the car, think of how much debri/rocks/dirt fly up at the front of your car...imagine how long a painted chin spoiler would last against a slew of rocks driving thru construction.

2. Chin spoilers tend to flex on the car...I'd say the paint would crack pretty easily from flexing or bumping a curb.

It certainly can be done...up to you...whatever you do don't buy a boss shinoda splitter

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

I never took all of that into consideration Sonic, you basically just made my mind up for me. If I get one, it's staying black.

Thanks also to you!

Re: Warping Chin Spoiler..

Glad I could help persuade you

Chin spoilers definitely complete the look up front.

Keep it nice and shiny (use Meguiars interior shine or something along those lines) and it'll look way better than a painted one

mine is the OEM one and its been fine for 8 years, just depend on quality and if you have it stressed on installation.
