That's not a bad idea! I might just do that once it gets warmer or I get a heater for my garage. I think I'm gonna do my emblems too.

So, do you plan to put the tires on by hand? After all the drawing is done, what are you going to do to seal them? Looking great btw.

Re: How To: Plasti Dip Your Car (In Depth, 6 pages worth of Microsoft Word)

these wheels are reverse mount, so I will use one of the tire mounting machines from my work, and put the rim face down, then mount the tires. Its nice because it protects the face of the wheels from any harm

Still drawing, might have a wheel done completely before I fall asleeeeeep. I cant sleep Im just in too good a mood!!!!!

Miss you sweetie!

That is wicked! Looks amazing...I would mess up and get extremely p***** off.

---------- Post added at 04:23 AM ---------- Previous post was at 04:21 AM ----------

What kind of marker is that...I plasti dipped my wife's wheels and she is wanting some pink accents and I am having trouble finding anything to do it with. Plus I would like to black out my rims with a color matched lip but don't want to spray the lip think one of the dupli color pens would work?

Re: How To: Plasti Dip Your Car (In Depth, 6 pages worth of Microsoft Word)

Thanks everyone!

its about time I finally get some sleep. I have to finish the front bumper, redo the top around the windshield, then lay the stripes!

I just found a set of 275 45 20s on craigslist, 3 for 50 bucks! I wont be able to tuck a 45 series in the front, but that will completely FILL the back and hopefully show pretty well too!

so you plastic dipped the whole wheel and then used the flat white on just the lip? Only wondering because I have a non mustang project that I am two toning the grill white and black. If regular white paint works well over the dip I'll go that route.

Yeah, think of the first layer of plasti-dip as the base coat, primer. After you lay that and it's dried you're ready to start spraying your final color for multiple coats. And Plasti-dip is making a clear-coat now. I know you can buy things off of dipyourcar.com and I'm sure google would turn up other places, but everything is roughly the same price.

If you go Josh's path and lay down the base, then the layers of white on the lip and let it cure... Then do a permanent marker/white-out design then expect to spend many hours on the job. I'm probably not far off base by saying it took him maybe 10-15hours just for that one wheel so far. It's a labor of love, but it's cheap, durable, and looks fantastic.

Oh yeah.. it's one-of-a-kind, too! I can't wait until he fills in the entire stripe design with marker. It's gonna look crazy... But will probably take 20-30hours if done in as great of detail as the rims.

Of course, I'm only speculating the times off of similar painting/drawing projects I've done.

Oh! And an opinion? What if on one of your rims you worked in a shoutout to your favorite Mustang website, ME? Or put people's names into the design. >.>;
