Exactly! The kid with the Cobalt is like that, everything he own came out of his parents pocket.. I'm not saying its his fault his parents have money but damn! He's in the car crew I run with, finally he ran the clutch out, put it in the shop, and now it's been sitting there for 2 months. He tried to replace the clutch and now it's sitting there half sanded cause he wants to get it repainted. 5 months ago his parents bought him an 04' Chevy 1500 single cab short bed truck, and the cobalt sits there in the shop.. The Chevy, well now it's got the original 5.3 fully built, heads, cam, dumped exhaust, Vette injectors, nitrous, a set of 20" rims for dd and a set of 15" slicks for track days, and a few other mods. On the dyno it put down 412 on motor and 500+ on 150 wet shot of nitrous. I just hope he takes care of the damn thing... Kids that have everything handed to them don't have the respect guys like us do, I've worked for everything I own, pay out of my own pocket.. Moral of the story is you bust your *** and work for what you have, you tend to respect the stuff you have a lot more to others that have everything handed to them...

Im having to pay out if pocket for college as well. My school has a program with Ford so im going to school to hopefully work at a dealership not to change the subject but i started a car club a few days ago and would love to add some members cars to it! Ive got a small number of cars on there now and am trying to expand the site and get people interested in it so i can get events together. If interested, look up Tuned-Muscle Auto Club on facebook, and if you want a good laugh read some of the album descriptions for our current members

Re: How To: Plasti Dip Your Car (In Depth, 6 pages worth of Microsoft Word)

Ok sorry its been a while, car was supposed to be finishing up this past weekend, but hell you know how these things work... you start on one thing and you are sitting there and BAM! another idea hits you in the face spot on while thinking to yourself... this is what will drag people over to the car, and then the WOW factor will be seen up close! I am more than happy to answer questions if you have them (any excluding what the surprise is ) and if you need any help understanding how to use, or how to fix anything with plasti dip feel free to let me know. I cant WAIT for my day off tomorrow to finally get the last layer done!

for now... DUECES!

Not 100% sure yet, but I need to try it, I'm thinking a black decklid for the rear, for now. I want to dip my moms maxima rims for her too. The white maxima+black rims=hot.

it adheres to it perfectly fine. I need to hurry up and perm marker it so I can clear coat the stripes and protect the Perm Marker.

Re: How To: Plasti Dip Your Car (In Depth, 6 pages worth of Microsoft Word)

UPDATE TIME!!!!!

Ok car is being masked off tonight completely to finish the stripes. I will have pics as I am SUUURE you are at least somewhat curious as to what my surprise element is for the car show aspect of things.

Also I want inputs. I am 100% determined to add something to the side of the car. What should it be. Ideas are not only welcomed but encouraged as well. My thoughts are the following:

(not all together, just one of the following)

Rocker Stripes
White Circle with the number 04 in it (think herby the bug)
Scoop Inserts
Insert Ideas Here

-giant graffiti style arrow
-flat white Adams rockers (in graffiti style)
- I like the white scoop inserts, not a fan of Herbie and not totally feeling the rockers.

Re: How To: Plasti Dip Your Car (In Depth, 6 pages worth of Microsoft Word)

OK as promised, I figured I would show some pics of the car being masked off. And also included in tonight Pictures are the Teaser photos for the Striped Interior as well!

Hope you enjoy!!!

First things First... I put a piece of tape on the windshield, and used it to line up the center line by turning on every light I had in the garage, and I took the shadow of the deepest shad down on the dash... which results in the center line for the dash

Next thing, for anyone who cleans their car, I had to remove the armor all that I use to protect the dash. A simple dime size drop of dish soap is more than powerful enough to remove the armor all.

yummy, cleaning paper towel on the left, new roll on the right

Preview of the interior

Once It came to taping off the windshield there are two methods you can use.
1) apply rolled tape to the back of the material being used to mask
2) drag your finger nail and make a hole the size of a quarter, then put tape from the outside, and adhere through the hole to the glass.

I had trouble getting the plastic to stop sagging by the defrost area... nothing a few playing cards to stiffen the area up couldn't solve

From the back

and the trunk

Painting starts tomorrow after a few more minor details!

p.s. Tomorrows Pictures will also Have a How-To: Fix a Scuff/Scrape/Tear in your Plasti Dip. I Tore a piece off of my bumper on purpose so I could show everyone how to fix it without having to completely redo a product you have dipped.

Is it the dash area where the radio goes thats off center or just the picture??? I see the tape is centered hit it looks like its left of center on the dash compared to where the center bezel is

Re: How To: Plasti Dip Your Car (In Depth, 6 pages worth of Microsoft Word)

UPDATED STRIPE PICS!

Ok this part is how to fix an area you might have ruined.

I tore off a piece on purpose to give you an idea of how to blend it all together.

Take a razor blade and outline around the damaged area. (DO NOT PRES HARD)

Peel away to leave a nice edge

Clean your surface area again

re paint the area

Look at how easy that was lol

thanks!

I figured since our black interiors already come off looking flat black, why not just add the stripes, nothing major and then do the graffiti inside as well. Now I have my interior started and I only have to add a few white accents here and there.

this isnt my first striped interior either. here are pics of my Cobalt I had a few years back.

That looks great! You're really giving me a lot of idea. I've been. Rain storming things to do to my interior. Just trying to decide if I want to start some of the projects since my car is a dd, it's hard to work on time-consuming things.
