Here's the tare-down...
Mustang models 99' 00' & 01' all had an aqua blue film in their dashboards and instrument panels exc...
Mustang models 02' 03' & 04' have Green film in theirs.
To make the switch to blue in my 2003 Mustang
, first I replaced the dash gauges , I got the part of gauges with the needles and film covering so I would not need to mess with the calibration of needles. I bought it at a junk yard for about $22(May very at different locations)***The only difference between the years is that newer models have a light area for "Check Fuel Cap" and the older ones do not... I wasn't to concerned about that.
Next I replaced the 5 factory bulbs in the gauges with "74-BHP3 Mini Wedge Base" LEDs and put it all together to get my gauges blue.
For the HVAC controls I got the film and backplate from the junkyard again, this time costing $13 the plates are exactly the same but the blue film vs green film, also the labels on the controls were different(I chose to carefully peel the label from my 2003 mustang controls and put it on top of the blue film/plastic piece that I got from the junk yard because I like the look of the newer one better). REMEMBER to grab the knobs as well! 3 knobs for the HVAC controls they also have the blue film!!!! I replaced the factory 194 bulbs with "WLED-B5 (194) Wedge Base" and put everything back together for that result.
The interior lights were from Amazon.Com for $19 I got 5 meters of waterproof blue LEDs and I wired em in my self and they stick onto any surface, they are wired into a fuse for my automatic locks so it's a live fuse, then run to a switch I put in just behind my shifter next to the 12v outlet so I can decide to have them on or off whenever I want. I put 9" of LED under my driver side and 9" under my passenger side.
The LEDs I put in my gauge cluster and my HVAC controls can both be found at www.superbrightleds.com
