When I bought my cobra the only catch was the ugly 80's style pink pinstripe on the side of the car. It's hideous and sadly the guy who did it used top notch paint to no solvents and chemicals will remove it. I'm gonna have to buff it or wet sand it and restripe it in better colors. I don't mind the design and new colors will be quite *****in. So my question is what paint to use. I'm gonna use black for the thin stripe enclosing a thicker bar which I will prolly do in a grey. I have an airbrush so if I get use a paint that would work in that would be great. I know theirs plasti dip but any other brands or types of paint? Any suggestions and tips would be excellent.

Re: Painting pinstripe

just covering it up may make matters worse, check with a local shop/detailer etc see what they can recommend to remove it for you

I went and got a couple quotes to where they all said they would buff it down, mask it off, and repaint. That would be the same as I. I'm not gonna spray over it as is because their is a texture to it and it may also adhere poorly. I was going to buff it back down to the clearcoat. And the reason behind the repaint is the undoubtably present ghost stripe. I see in the first post where I put cover it up, which I put ambiguously. I'm looking for a good paint that will adhere good and look good as well AFTER I buff it down to the clearcoat to start fresh.
