Opinions on clear bras?

I'd like to know what you guys think about them. I've heard mixed reviews about them. Anyone had one on for a while?

Not a fan. I don't think it's good to have it on the car 24/7. The original concept was to put them on for road trips only and then it became fashionable to have them always on. But I think that is where you may have some paint issues, fading if nothing else.

Re: Opinions on clear bras?

if done correctly, and installed correctly they work and do great. Sometimes people have issues with cheap material yellowing, blowing off etc (also from poor installation)

they can also get spider like scratches when installed if not done right etc.

It is VERY costly to have done but can be workout great.

I would do EVERY inch of paint on the front bumper, the entire side skirt, the front area right behind the front wheel, the back bumper right behind the back wheel, around the door handle and the side mirror (and side scoop area perhaps)

Re: Opinions on clear bras?

I had mine professionally installed a week ago by a 3m installer. It comes with a 5 year warranty. My car is sort of a garage queen but i do take it on long road trips once a month. So rock chips would be common without this. It cost me $280 for 12" on hood and fenders. Heres some pics. I tried to get opinions before but people on here are more concerned about fake hood scoops and stripes than paint protection!

Looks pretty good. Can barely notice it and I'm sure from a distance no one could tell. Not too bad man

I like that. It's not on your bumper is it?

Re: Opinions on clear bras?

They want $400 to do the bumper! I dont know if its worth it. I may do it next year. I plan on doing the mirrors and headlights next though. The hood is most vulnerable. You shouldnt get a clear bra installed if there is stone chips already even if you touch it up the film will magnify imperfections.

If any of you do this go to a certified 3m installer/retailer. I had a friend who had it done at a less reputable place...the black paint faded and the bra peeled off, another friend had the 3m stuff done and 10 years later his ride looks mint. You get what you pay for

$400 you could have the bumper and hood repainted.
Not the hood but maybe another $200 for the hood.

I know right! Thats why i decided to just do hood. Its most prone to rocks and bug stains. Apparently the 3m stuff can take a rock at 100mph and not tear. The hood repainted probably would never match, this kona blue paint is pretty insane to get a perfect match. The bumper wouldnt be as bad to repaint as its lower therefore not as noticeable. Plus its plastic so rock chips will be black and not primer/metal like the hood.

Also what if you rear end someone...there goes $700 for a sticker! Insurance wouldnt cover it.

Yeah it does seem a little pricey for the clear bra. But I be afraid of trying to match grabber blue every time.
