Should I get window tint?

My friend keeps telling me I should get window tint, since it keeps the car cooler during the summer. I know nothing about tinting, so does anyone else have knowledge or experience with tinting their stangs windows?

What brands, and what percentages should I get for each window?

It refers to how much light is being let threw the tint it seems opposite but the lower the number the darker the tint so 5% is like limo tint where you can't see inside it at all

I have 30 on sides & 5 on rear. 5% is limo dark and anything over 30% is pretty lite.

Good question you're not stupid! The only question you don't ask is being stupid!

Let's say put it this way, say we have tints, or Film, since that is what tint really is, numbered from 100 to 0.
100 would let 100% all visible light through.
0 would let 0% or no visible light through.
Thus, 5 percent lets 5 percent of all visible light through.

You live on the other side of Cali though lol. I have been noticing a few more people with darker tints recently though so maybe cops don't care so much anymore.

So how much is the front windshield tinted, you guys have been saying like 30 on the side, (I'm assuming door windows) and 5 on the rest, what is the rest? The back and the front?

Re: Should I get window tint?

I have 5% tint on the rear window and quarter-windows in the back, and 35% up front (I live in California, btw, and these are within legal limits).

Backing up at night sucks. In fact, seeing anything at night out the back window sucks, because it's so damn dark. It's not too bad during the day, though. Other than that, I love the tint, and spent about $180 on it total at a local tinting shop.

I say do it... if you don't like it, get it removed.

Iam pretty sure it is illegal to get ur front windsheild tinted in all states and could be dangerous to have the side and back will run 160 to 180

Your rear and quarter windows are fine, but your front are actually illegal... Not saying most cops care, but the legal limit for the front in Cali is that it must allow more than 70% of light through.

Darker tint looks better. I went legal here in NC which I believe 35 percent. I'd recommend legal. Even though cops usually don't pull you over for tint if they do, they usually make you remove it or give you a fix it ticket. Both are expensive since you'll have to replace your tint. From my experience it costs around 100-250 for a full up tint job.
