Plasti dip - once again.

Today I'm picking up 25 cans of flat matte black plasti dip and 5 cans of gun metal grey for stripes. Found a guy in Toronto selling them for $8 a can, which I can live with. I have no money for a decent paint job so we'll see how this goes. I'll be posting pics of the entire process, just figured I'd put this up if anyone is interested. I'll also let you know any problems I run into during this project. I think I attached a before picture although I make no promises since this is my first post.

Good luck man! Make sure you do it in as close to a wind free environtment as possible and keep an eye on what tips you're using. The fatter tips spray wayyy better so if you have a couple cans with those, and a couple with the smaller tips..use the fatties on all of it.

What kind of front bumper is that?

My advice is dont ... First mistake is trying to do the entire car with spray cans. Believe me its gonna take forever because you have to do panel.by panel. And second Its cheaper to go to dipyourcar.com and buy the spray gun kit and its only $100 . Cheaper and less work trust me.

Yeah it'll be out of the wind for sure. Front bumper is Xenon I believe, don't hold me to that though I bought the car with it already on so I'm not 100%. And I've already picked the cans up, I'm not too worried about it taking too long, I have 3 other people spraying. I'll have 1 guy working on rims as well while the rest of us do the car.

prc, I'll give you his number in a pm, he does have the matte red. It actually turned out great with the cans, I like it. Next thread will be about the snow performance boost and a possible tune. Also I've decided not to paint the rims I have on there now.

If you are careful, take your time and keep the proper distance then it will look good. That's expensive for spray cans, here they're about $5 with tax at Lowes.

---------- Post added at 07:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:03 PM ----------

But that is Ontario and they have way more taxes on spray cans.

Tennessee, it might be $6 but I'm almost positive it is $5. I'll check tomorrow, I need some for my rims anyways.

Yeah I bought a few cans $6.78 at Lowes. I thought that was a pretty good deal considering how much crap I've dipped with 2 cans lol.

I just recently did mine, the whole car with the Pro Car Kit from DipYourCar.com. Actually wasn't too bad, took about 4 1/2 hrs from start to finish including prep. When you do it make sure you have not only have a clean, but a well lit garage. Guessing your car will be on jack stands, so that should make it pretty easy to do the wheel wells. First off, go to the car wash and clean your car like you normally would, drive it around a bit to get any water out that may be in any cracks or trim, and park it in the garage. Grab some glass cleaner, and wipe down the entire car. I walked around twice wiping everything just to be sure. After that, take out the turn signals on the front, and license plates. Start prep. When I did mine, I covered the wheels in plastic bags, and taped it to the inside of the rim. Tape off the windows, leaving about 4 inches away from the trim and body of the car, taped off my mirrors, wiper cowl, head lights, and stuffed cardboard in between the bumper and the radiator. After that you should be good to start spraying. Since you are using cans I'd suggest you take your time with it, and do about 5-6 coats minimum. The thicker you lay it on, the easier it's gonna be in the long run. Here's some pics of mine, if ya need any help just lemme know

That came out pretty sweet man. Good job! I plan on doing mine soon with the actual dip gun and the red 14 oz cans from Home Depot. I was looking at some YouTube and Google pictures and there seems to be a variety of red shades. Ive seen like burgundy, almost torch red, matte red, and weird looking faded type of red. And they all show that there from the same type of red dip that I ordered. So I'm confused on actually what shade of red it'll come out. Any info on that?

I actually want any of these colors. The laptop was a red dip. It seems pretty similar to the foglight area of the second. But what I mostly would like is the red and black cobra. It's actually a picture someone put up a while back and I've loved that combo since. Is there a certain amount of reducer or gloss or even some black dip I could mix with the red to create either one?

Where I live in Ohio it's $5.98 a can at Home Depot. What part of Ohio are you from?

Yeah I am wanting to get red plasti dip as well.

Idea:
Someone should talk to Plasti dip and to American muscle for them to collaborate to make ford paint plasti dip. I know you can mix your own color, but I would love 100% real torch red paint to do with whatever I like seamlessly. And all the other mustang colors as well

It's a cool idea, but there are a lot of colours. I guess they could just make all the popular ones. I know I'd like to get grabber blue plasti dip.
