Gimme your opinions

Okay I decided I wanted to do something a little different with my rear end, and in hopes of sticking with my all white theme I plastidipped my rear emblem white. It's not a 100% match but out of direct sunlight it's hardly noticeable. I had a custom emblem made for it and I had planned on removing the gt emblem in favor of my custom one. Should I ditch the white plasti dip and go with black? Or keep the white and put my emblem on as I planned?

Moved to paint and appearance, this really doesn't belong in the 10-14 section

It's interesting that there is a section devoted to appearance that's non year specific. I guess the 10-14 section is just for the "which CAI should I get" and "help me choose exhaust" threads go lol. What's your opinion of my white emblem grabber?

Looks good, but I bet the black 5.0 emblem would really pop against all that white

That's what I'm hoping! I had that emblem made awhile ago and it's just been sitting because I've been lazy about it lol

It's original for sure but I think i miss the color breakup.

Your car though glad you're being original, we need more people like you! Props.

Looks really good, only thing I would do differently is make the outer most ring of the badge in black, otherwise it's awesome!

I have thought about that. I'll probably leave it as is for a little while and see how it goes. Best part about it is that I can just take it right back of and do a different color whenever

Looks great! One suggestion if you will, ever think of doing the "FORD" in black to match the emblem? Add that little touch and it would be perfect. Just my .02 .

I think that would be awesome but I don't have the freehand skills to paint that with a little brush. I'm not sure how else I would do that. Permanent black marker maybe? Lol

How long did you let the emblem sit before putting it on when you plasti dipped it? And did you get The dip online or at a local hardware store

The emblem sit? I'm not sure what you mean by that. I plasti dipped the whole rear emblem and a small square surrounding it on the trunk. Once it was properly cured and I had put the glossifier on it I removed the mask from my trunk and peeled the plastidip off the paint around the emblem. After the plastidip had cured a day or two afterwards I then removed the gt emblem to put the 5.0 emblem on.

The supplies I picked up at Walmart actually.

Again..I have never used it.....but I have seen just about everything covered is plastidip. I strongly suggest that you learn about the product both on application and use.

Yes I have a friend who dipped his rims....looks good and appears to be holding up.....but he has to be very careful on cleaning as ingredients found in some cleaners could destroy the dip. JUST my opinion ....but plastidip is for testing or trial basis....not sure if it holds up for a long period...but I could be wrong.

You can plastidip any surface you want provided that the surface is clean. I've done wheels, emblems, mirror caps, bumpers, trim, and even a paintball gun in plastidip and it has all held up very well. Above post is correct that certain chemicals will destroy plasti dip. Anything that is petroleum or solvent based will have it melting right off. For me, a little pre soak in some simple green and a quick hit with the pressure washer has always worked. Plasti-dip can be made into a semi-permanent modification if you choose to do so, but you must maintain the upkeep on it.
