Clearcoat coming off!

Just checked out my rear bumper and it seems the clearcoat is coming off. They're these little bubbles and they chip off it you touch them.

Why is this happening?

not a definite but probably the same reason the stock hoods do it under the front sometimes. I think ford didn't spray enough clear coat possibly? this could be a good chance to possibly look for a GT bumper if you have dual exhaust or plan to get dual exhaust? just sayin

Hmm. I already have my bumper cut for the FR duals, but the Gt500 bumper cover looks nice with the valence.

I called around here and people want upto $400 to strip the paint and reprint it....

Here is an updated picture. It's getting worse everyday. It's very flakey. I'm sure if I messed with it a little it's going to chip off.

Anyone know if the GT500 rear end (with the valence) is a direct fit?

Called the shop. They recommend stripping the paint and repainting it.

Looking at $800-900.

I had the GT500 / GT/CS (they're the same, just different paint styles) rear bumper cover on my '06 V6. It is indeed a direct fit and I'm going to provide a part number for you. It's a Ford accessory kit, so it comes with the bumper and all of the needed hardware and instructions for installation.

When I bought it directly from Ford, it was $355.00. A quality paint job should be around $300-$400. The total cost should be around $800, but is definitely the best looking rear bumper cover I've seen on the 05-14's (I miss it so much!).

MPS Auto Salvage has a nice bumper for $300. It's already painted and is in good condition (according to him).

I like the GT500 bumper look but im wondering what you guys think? Is it worth getting a new bumper? Has anyone dealth with MPS before, are they pretty honest/reliable when they say its in good condition?

From MPS? Not sure. I'm assuming it'll be about the same since both will most likely come freight either way.

If you don't have the money for the GT500 bumper, I'd say definitely pick up that GT bumper, it'll look nice with your dual exhaust.

Also, I forgot to mention if you were to order the GT500 bumper from Ford (unpainted of course) they don't charge anything for shipping and it came in pretty quick (3-4 days).

Have it shipped to Seattle? I'm also from Victoria. I find my way around to some cheap shipping. I had a friend with a po box in port Angeles . It was nice for that free shipping and we'd take a trip down every now and then to get the parts.

Ah that'd be so nice but I know of no one in Seattle or the Us for the matter.

You could get your own. There are ways my friend . Do a bit of research if you're interested. Also, someone told me they used this once. Might be worth a look into for the future. http://shiptotheborder.com/looking-for-a-us-po-box
