Question Plasti-Dip Rear Emblem Letters

Okay so I'm trying to think of the best way to get the inside of the letters painted in the rear emblem: http://i.ebayimg.com/t/OEM-NEW-Ford-2013-Mustang-Coupe-Rear-Trunk-Faux-Gas-Cap-Emblem-BOSS-Badge-/00/s/MTAwMFgxMDAw/$%28KGrHqRHJDoFBQI8!WV9BQb%29FCNpog~~60_35.JPG

I have plasti-dipped my wheels, front, side and rear emblems however, I cannot figure out the best way to get just the letters to be black. When I was peeling it off the outer chrome ring the letters just came right up with the rest, I didn't really care at the time, but of course I changed my mind after a while and now I need to see those letters black.

So for those of you who have done it, how to did you do it?

The only solution I've come up with is to create the break myself very carefully with an exacto knife and then peel the rest off. I just wanted to get an idea from others to see if there's a better way to accomplish this.

Thanks in advance!
