Painting decklid panel?

Hey guys, thought I had posted this yesterday, but I can't find it anywhere.

Anyway, first time post here. Bought a 2012 V6 back in november, and am in the long process of personalizing it.

Anyhow, i ordered the MMD decklid panel from AM the other day: MMD Mustang Rear Decklid Panel (10-12 All) - Free Shipping

I ordered this one simply because the reviews actually said it fit, unlike other options. However, its not the...blackest decklid panel i've seen.

Anyone have any advice on painting this thing blacker?

Welcome to the forums! Congrats on the 2012 V6, I hope you're enjoying it so far.

I'm sorry to hear that you're not really enjoying the finish of the MMD decklid panel. I wish I had a better answer, but I'm not exactly sure how you can paint this. I mean I'm sure you could use some sort of spray paint that is designed for this type of material, but I'm not sure how that would look! You could contact a local body shop that has experience with paint and see what they think.

I hope this helps!

If its smooth plastic, scuff it with 1000 scuff pad, prep it with Bulldog adhesion promoter, spray base, spray clear, done.

Try going to a shop and have them wrap it in vinal. If you ever get scratches you can always replace the vinyl again
