I took Friday off to put a stripe on my hood. It did not end well. Now I have to buy another stripe and I'm getting some help next time. Kudos for being patient!!

Trust me patience is a must with these stipes. A heat gun works magic. Worth the money. And if u orderd them from am you should plenty left over to be able to re du ur hood. And I had a friend of mine who's restores cars as a hobby help me.

But like I said the heat gun is mAgic for these vinyl stripes

Hmmm it's a hard project overall. It toke me so long cuz I did it at work at the fire station so there was a little down time. But if I did it all over again it would take less time.

One of the hard parts is getting all the measurements right. Getting everything centered. Honestly it's pretty easy to do the trunk roof and hood if u are carful. I wood do the trunk, roof and the hood last. But the bumpers are a ***** becouse of the curves. What I did was cut the vinal in sections to do the curves on the bumpers. Every flat part was a separate piece.

I suggest you do the roof hood and trunk yourself and then have a shop do the bumpers

The cuts that u say u made, are they noticeable? I basically don't want someone walking up to my car and telling me you can see where it was cut lol

The ones on the bumper are not becouse I used a heat gun to hide them and the are underneath the edges. And on the ones I had to use by the 3rd brake light I coverd up with a peace of vinyl that I used for a new blackout panel

So I just got my car back from the shop and I'm a little disappointed. I bought the super snake stripe which is basically one stripe. I think it came ok. I just didn't like that there is some bubbles significantly on it. The guy said it would come out with the heat but who knows. I also noticed that it wasn't completely 100 percent perfect as one thing was a little cricket. Where the hood ends, it seemed like it ripped a little whole and the guy filled it in with permanent marker which does match it but will. What do u guys think?

I would be pissed if I paid someone to do that and they didn't turn out perfect. Mine turned out perfect and it was my first time with vinyl. I would demand a refund

I am upset but I don't think I will get the refund even if I ask. He said he can get someone to duplicate the stripe and do parts of it that's messed up

I would demand a refund and talk to the manager of the shop... This is bs if it is a credible shop they should refund everything and do it again... If it's not a credible shop then you shouldn't have taken it to them and just did it yourself. But good luck with it all!! Some shop are better than others and I know from experience not to trust them because they are just in it for the money. Sorry to hear about this I hope it all works out well

pics?
with the bubble, yes the heat should get them out, but if it don't after a while you can get a exacto knife and try and put a itty bitty whole in them but you gotta be super careful.

Shouldn't have to fix them at all, but if I were going to try to pop the bubble I would use a sewing needle instead.

A good body shop. I would shop around and it wouldn't go to a chain one. Only private owned with some old timer that knows his **** and isn't to busy. Someone that has been highly recamemded. And has built up loyal followers. Go to a place the restores old cars. The good ones kno all the tricks to body work

Nice job man, it took me 2 whole days and tons of patience to install my rally stripes. Every shop I went to, wanted anywhere from $380- $450. Sometimes, u have to take the bull by the horns. Congrats.
