How do I paint my wheels?

I hate my stock wheels on my 14 GT! I want to solve that problem temporarily until I can afford to buy the set of wheels I want.. Does anyone know what brand is best to paint my wheels black? I would prefer some kind of matte black finish.. I think I can just tape up around my tire and go to town once I've obviously got the wheel off the car correct? Shed some knowledge ME fam.. Thx

2014 GT, black, leather, Tech pkg with Navigation, Sync, u name it! Haha LOVE the NEW 5.0!!!!!! Traded in an 06 and this is light years better in so many ways, mainly power and luxury!! GREAT job Ford!!

If you WANT the matte finish then buy two cans of plasti dip & some cards to put between the rims and tires and just dip them

I think he means like index cards to stick there so you don't get plastidip on the tires

Playing cards works too. I used one can of dip per tire, but 2 will get all 4

You put them between the lip of the rim and the tire

Do I need to plug the lug holes as well? Or is that something I can do with a knife after I paint?

You don't even need to take the wheels off your car if you don't want to. Some people take the wheels off and use the cards, but it's not necessary.

Watch some videos on dipyourcar.com the guy shows you how to do it with the wheels on your car, it's really easy. In order to do all 4 wheels with 4-5 coats each you'll need 4 cans (I'd buy 5 just in case) at any Home Depot or Lowes (they're like $5 each).

Once you finish let them sit for a few hours if possible before driving around and DO NOT wash them for ~2 weeks or so to let them cure. After that you're good to go.

Plasti dip is what I used. I love the flat black look it gave them.

The matte black is nice.

OP you can also add gloss as well if you want more of a shine. Here's an example of 2 coats of gloss over 4-5 coats of matte black:

Plastidipped MCA Wheel Center Caps

You can't go wrong either way
