Philly area Interested in Stripes?

I just did mine and never thought to take step by step pics. I'm willing to donate my time and knowledge to make a tutorial for my fellow M.E. Members.

I used Rustoleum car detail paint. I can use whatever. Measuring and masking is the fun part.

So just a lot of measuring from outside of the car inwards? I'm planning on doing stripes and want an idea on how to start.

Put a small peice of tape on the center points every 1-2 feet. Tape the line just for a guide. stand far away enough to see if it looks straight from different angles.

With small pieces of tape, mark the stripe outside points (with small peices of tape) . Measure from the center outwards first. then double check from the outer edge inwards. this helps because of the curves in the body. Tape the outside edges. Stand back and check so the lines are straight and even.

I used 1/2" tape along the inside edge as a guide for my 1" space, taped it with the FROG tape, then pulled the 1/2 " tape off. Then again, stood back and checked for straightness.

Press the edges down properly. No paint will bleed under these edges

After I was 100% sure I was happy with the stripes, I used a red scuffie on the surface ti be striped. Careful on the tape edges so it didnt break the seal. Carefully wiped off all dust with a soft rag. I draped plastic over the top and sides of the car, securing it properly on all edges. I put paper over the outside edges too. Because paint flakes off plastic while its drying. My friends paper blew over onto his wet stripe paint :-[ ugh. you dont want this to happen. I put an extra 1 1/2" tape on the outside of the srtipes to have more area to secure outside plastic and paper. The Rustoleum paint I used left straight lines after I pulled the tape. Even after the stripes were dry. I heard this is hard to do with Plasti dip.

I just heard pulling the tape, pulls the edge of the finish off. The Rustoleum I posted is thick, durable and IMO looks like Plasti-dip.

I like Plasti dip. Im just not sure how outlined stripes around thick stripe would turn out. its easy and fast to tape up the stripes, do one or two coats, pull the tape and be done with it

It would be helpful to others to see pics of the process for painting stripes. Especially if they're outlined with thin stripes.

Anyone close to Philly, Ill be happy to meet up to help tint windows too. As well, help paint stripes. I'd even computerize the stripes or stripe first so you can decide.
Mainly because it'll give me something to do. LOL. I have too much free time.

I met this guy in the parking lot in Philly. I PhotoShopped Stripes for him. He likes it. Gotta love PhotoShop!
