Use Meguire's Ultimate Compound & follow with waxing. The Meguires will get rid of the scratches & bring back the shine.

Do your final sanding with 1000 grit and then buff it out with a polishing compound.
Are the runs in the base coat or the clear coat?

Depends on how severe it is. Obviously, to get rid of the runs you start by wetsanding with the thicker grade and then work your way down to finer grades. As you keep stepping down to finer and finer grades (the most I saw available was 5k, but that might be hard to find), it will leave less and less marring.

If you can get it down to about a 3-4k you can use a light polish with a DA and normally take that marring out.

I use 1500, then 2000 & then 2500 grit. Then Meguires & Wax. Walmart has the Sandpaper / Polishing Cloth in the Automotive Dept. You will not find it in the Paint Dept.

Where do you find that fine of sand paper Joey? I was just at the auto body supply store in my area and, I don't think that they had anything that fine.

Only place I found to buy 5000 Grit was a Jewelery Supply House as they use it to polish Jewelery.

Here's a place. As I said it's TOUGH to find. Doubt any parts stores would carry it. The finest I've found in normal chain stores was 3k:

3M Company 30189 2-3/4 X 5-1/2 5000G FOAM SHEET - JMC Automotive Equipment

Same Brand as I get from the Jewelery Supply. 3M, 9"x11" sheet of 500 Grit is $1.99 ea.
They call it Polishing Paper once the Grit Passes 3000 grit.

Appears they make up to 8000 for woodworking applications. Pretty sure that would be like sliding a piece of paper across it though
