Just bought a 2012 race red stang . It came with black stripes on the roof hood trunk....Would like to remove them has anyone done it before? the paint is in very good shape 17000 miles ..will there be difference in the paint as in paint fade?

Stripe removal

Is it just vinyl? If it is that's easy. Just heat up an edge with a heat gun set on low or a hair dryer then peel it off. It's really that simple. I had two stripes on my black mustang and after about 8k miles I took one off and there was no difference. If you want them off it might be best to get them off earlier rather than later. If you do notice a difference you could get them put back on or see if a detailer can even it out.

they should come off easy-peasy. It is easier when warm....just catch the edge with a finger nail and pull the strip the long way off the car pulling at a 90 deg angle to the body. I would try w/o heat gun first. idk about fade I doubt it but it will depend on climate and how well the previous owner took care of it. Gut feeling says it'll be ok.

Thanks for your inputs ...I just picked up the car yesterday from the dealer and from what i can tell the past owner put them on last year so they should come off easy i hope .They look good on the car but i'm going with the stock look .

I will suggest living with them for a bit...easy to remove, difficult if you find out you really kinda liked them.

Race Red is the fastest color!

I took off my black factory kick panel stripes on my Red Candy after four years with no sign of fade. I just used sun heat and pulled them off. A quick bit of wax in the shade shined it right up.

One thing to be careful of, I had stripes on my 2010 GT, when I removed the rear piece, the installer had used a razor blade to trim the vinyl, also cutting the paint, check really good, once the paints cut, no going back.

I think that was the best choice......I know Shelby's come with rocker stripes but I can't help but think V6 with the side stripes. I like my V6 but didn't like the rocker stripes.
