Hey everyone, just curious to know if anyone has put a body kit on their stang and what the cost was. Went to three different bodyshops and none of them have any experience with body kits whatsoever..although when I mentioned a New paint job they were all in the $6,000.00 to $8,000.00 range..and all I want is to repaint Angela ( my Stang) from black and yellow to solid Black... I guess whoever had the car repainted simply had it sprayed over as you can see red on the hood scoop and around the headlights..

Well the inflated quote may be to cover the extra time to remove the multiple top coats. But I am no paint expert so they may just be high.

As far as "body kits" go, what type do you mean? A full Saleen or Roush bumper, valence, skirt and spoiler kit or the garbage ones from places like Mrbodykit? I have heard fitment on a lot of those is not great. Even decent aftermarket body panels need some finesse to get on correctly as an older car has flexed, twisted and warped to some degree over time.

I think the Roush "R" series Body Kit looks great on new edges. Or maybe do a mixture of the production models. Mach, Bullitt, Cobra, Cobra R.
I see you're from the land of blue grass. Good to have another fellow Kentuckian on the forum!

Every day is a joyride.

Saleen is somewhat like that. In a way, just toned down a bit.
Or are you wanting like Japanese cars style body kits?

Every day is a joyride.

Take that 6-8k and put it down on a newer better mustang that doesn't need a paint job. Honestly from a guy that once did body work, that's cheap. I'm not trying to rain on your parade but here is what it sounds like you are doing:

2-5k car

1-2k body kit

6-8k paint job

7-10k into a 2-5k car. Doesn't make sense. Sell that thing, clump it into your other wad o cash and bam, you got your self a 2011 mustang v6 with 305 hp, doesn't need a paint job. Your welcome 😀👌🏻

the paint sounds high....but are they painting inside hood/trunk/door jambs? If they have too that'll explain the cost. Changing colors is stupid expensive/hard. Show us some pics!

Oxford has a point . . in the long run even though it is my first mustang, they always come and go...a newer model would be the logical direction to take..simply get the paint code for whatever body kit you choose. So it all matches. May save a man some time and money. Trying to figure out how to post pics. it says to load file jpg or something like that ? . can you upload photos from a android phone? I would be very happy to show Angela off.

As Oxford said, for what you'd spend on a full body kit & paint/prep you could get an 05-06 GT. There are cars for less thank $10k with under 100k miles up here.

Newer car with a v8...mid to high 13 second car to start playing with.

I bought a really clean stock 49.5k miles 07 GT for 13,500. You can get one in really good shape for under 15, easy. Just something you might consider.

I think like others have said, sell your Mustang and get an 05-07 GT or a 2011 V6. You should be able to find a clean under 85k miles one, I know I see them around me for reasonable prices. Even have seen 12-13 V6s for 13-15k with about 50k miles on them. Sell your car, put it with the rest of your money, and put a nice big down payment on a Coyote, then finance a little and youre all set!

I know how sentimental value works too, its hard when it comes down to that. Im that way with my 96 GT. I have listed it s few times, and once recently and as soon as I get people interested in it, I tell them its sold and pull the ad, lol.
