Fender hash stripes

I see after market fender hash stripes for sale. This isn't a retro mustang thing is it? Isn't it more a Mopar thing?

The fender stripes are not special to any particular manufacturer. You can find the hash marks on Corvettes, Challengers, BMW, Shelby Cobras, Mustangs as well as many others. Recon likely knows the exact history. The origin of the markings is race related.

I think the fender hash marks were originally from racing. Basically to tell what team a car belonged to.

For instance, two blue Corvettes, one with red hashes, the other with white.

I also think that Corvettes and Ferraris where the original cars with the fender marks.
