When i recently purchased my steeda cai and sct tuner combo the discount worked and got me the full 6% off. Maybe this worked because it was a combo kit but it WAS a Steeda cai..

To any of you guys from AM,

I just noticed that you guys do price matching, I have an order that I placed on 4/2 that hasn't shipped yet and I found the CAI that I'm ordering from you guys for $38 cheaper from a competitor.

I did apply the 6% discount to my order but since the CAI manufacturer doesn't allow the discount I paid full retail for it still.

Since my order hasn't shipped can you guys match the CAI price of the competitor? If you can't because of the applied discount for the Bama X4 tuner I ordered I understand, I'll call on Monday morning and cancel the CAI and order from the other company.

Since I'm thinking my order will be shipped on Monday I'm hoping one of you sees this before than otherwise I'll cancel the CAI if no contact has been made before Monday.

Would it be possible for you guys to offer a discount code for free shipping to Canada for Canadian members?.. I could do without the 6% if that was the case I would be buying all my parts from you guys... However the cost of shipping just discourages me from justifying buying from your site. Although I have parts from you guys the shipping killed me.

I figured, I know I wouldn't be working for free on my weekends!

I'll email AM support directly but my hope is that when the reps are back on that they will see I tried to contact them before my order shipped. That way even if everything ships on Monday morning before hearing anything they will honor the competitors price.

I received a PM from an AM rep concerning a different matter this morning so I know they are back on so hopefully one of you sees this and let's me know about the price match question mentioned in my earlier post just a couple back.

My main concern is my order will ship without having heard back from anyone.

I actually called right after leaving my previous reply, I simply wrote that right when I woke up hoping that by the time I was starting my day I would have a reply from AM reps here. This is just one of many forums they frequent so a fast reply I knew was a long shot but thought I would try any ways.

Customer service said that they couldn't do the price change even though the products hadn't shipped. Simply told me they will only price match before the order is placed.

I understand there are policies to stick to but that's crap. My order was still "processing" when I called, not even "approved" and so I'm a little disappointed the rep couldn't simply issue my credit card the respective credit amount which would have been the difference between the AM price and the competitors price.

Since my order wasn't even approved yet I asked the rep to cancel my order for the Steeda CAI and just continue with the Bama tuner. He told me that since the Bama tuner was programmed to my car that doing the request wasn't possible.

I failed to see how the Bama tuner had any significance to the cancellation of the CAI, but he stuck to his position and so I had no choice but to simply allow my order to be approved, and within the last 30 minutes I was told my order shipped via email.

I asked the rep if I could just do a return when I received the product, and he said yeah, we'll issue you an RMA. Nearly just said OK thanks, but felt I should ask if there are any fees with the return and he said I had to pay shipping back. Ok, that's fine in this case, the cheaper price offered by LateModelRestorations should still come out to be a better deal even after paying for returned shipping.

I'm an avid online shopper, nearly everything I buy is online unless it's groceries, and even at that if it's not perishable items I will buy them online, the amount I save in sales tax is unreal.

Anyways, AM is highly regarded for their customer service from my research, which may be true for an automotive company, and in this industry perhaps they're regarded as exceptional, but personally I feel after this situation that I will be using other companies. After having dealt with so many different online based companies I personally feel AM wasn't actually all that great, just average at best. I.e read policies to me and that was it, nothing personal nor exceptional about that.

I just feel like the rep stood his ground based on technicalities and didn't really try to help me, I mean, he knew I was shipping it back before my order was even approved, let alone shipped, and still wouldn't cancel just that one item from my order, that's what gets me the most.

As I said earlier, I understand policies are policies, but instead of issuing me a $38 partial refund, AM is now out the additional shipping costs for the CAI, the labor time for pulling the product, the office time for issuing an RMA, the additional labor time for receiving the product, quality checking it and re-stocking it. That plus they lose the $341 sale n the CAI they could have had by doing a price match.

That's all pennies when you compare it to the peace of mind, perhaps confidence, I will now lack if I notice AM has something I want. No doubt I will be turning first to Amazon then competitors.

Keep in mind the sum of $38 isn't significant, it's the handling of the situation and policies that aren't leaving a good taste in my mouth. A CAI and tuner are the cheapest and most basic of upgrades, and truly are just the starting point to my mod list.

No offense taken.

I didn't know they did price matching until everything was already placed, this was my first order with AM, and so I was hoping with all the glowing reviews of their customer service that they would be willing to work with my order based on it's status at the time of contact, i.e still awaiting to even be approved, that's the very first step of that process after submitting my order, you can't get much newer on your order status then that.

That's why I think their service is average. The rep didn't actually try to help me, he just read the policy, and had I not been keen to some merchants who charge re-stocking and/or return shipping fee's I would have had to learn that the hard way too. The rep knew 100% that I was shipping the product back yet he completely avoided mentioning any costs associated with going that route when I asked him how to do the return. He simply said we'll issue you an RMA with all our information and you can simply send it back. To me, that sounds like a pre-paid shipping return label.

Like I said, I'm not saying how they handled me was wrong nor inappropriate. I pay premium prices for premium service's all the time, I understand that you usually get what you pay for but in this case, I'm just not willing to pay the slightly higher prices AM has compared to other large competitors when the service seems average.

I will say this though, the couple of interactions I've had with the AM forum members sure had me sold on the customer service. They were both very detailed and cordial in their replies and the PM's I've had. So I do have to commend those select few on truly going above and beyond but unfortunately they're not the ones I've dealt with when it matters the most.

However, this thread is dedicated to those seeking out the discount code so in respect to AM in general I'm going to discontinue my discussion of this matter on their thread. If they choose to reply publicly I will do that same, otherwise I've said my peace, and feel I've expressed myself thoroughly concerning their quality of service in the most earnest way possible.
