Carbon fiber or like just something that can be airbrushed so when I put subs the box can be airbrushed with the back seat but carbon fiber would work too just anything besides the carpet would be great

Matte black or black out version of the trim on the steering wheel or interior as opposed to all carbon fiber.

Thanks for expanding on a few of these ideas guys. The more details you can provide, links, or examples, the better. I like to present these ideas to the right people with as much info as possible, so we're more likely to bring new parts in or have them designed!

I think it would be a cool idea to have an option for painting the exhaust tips, whole muffler, or full cat back in a different color using high temp paint such as this: VHT FlameProof™ Coating. One can costs ~$10, the only issue I could see is you guys having is a place to correctly cure the parts after painting. I could see people paying an extra $25 for tips, $50 for whole muffler, and $100 - $150 for full catback if that color change option is possible.

Just some food for thought since I see a lot of people trying to remove or cover up the shiny pieces of their cars both inside and out.

StormTrooperV6,

Not a bad idea at all! I agree the issue would be finding a place to cure the paint properly. We would need a large industrial oven or something. Still it could be cool. Have you ever heard of Jet Hot Coating? It's the same idea, but a little more extreme. I'd like to see how many customers would be interested in getting any portion of their exhaust coated like this!

At the very least, I think it would be good to carry the VHT cans. I'm not even sure how many customers are aware they even exist!

Shane

I've always wanted to paint mine black instead of say chrome like you get. But I don't have the time/resources to pull the tips off and paint them. Would be easy and cheap to do if you could get them off lol

Wow, Jet Hot Coating is amazing! They can get pretty detailed with that, very impressive; very expensive, but very impressive.

In all honesty the mufflers and tips would be the more popular choice since most people don't want to pay for something they can't see. So as a start you may be able to get away with some regular household ovens. After doing some googling it seems a lot of DIY people do the first 5 steps below then run the vehicle under normal conditions for 30 minutes.
Quote:
  • Paint must be completely dry before curing
  • Heat to 250°F (121°C) for 30 minutes
  • Cool for 30 minutes
  • Heat to 400°F (204°C) for 30 minutes
  • Cool for 30 minutes
  • Heat to 650°F (343°C ) for 30 minutes
I think it'd be interesting to see how many people would be interested, I'd venture to guess quite a bit since plastidip is pretty well known, and everyone seems to be using that in some way to customize their ride. The only problem with plastidip is that it's only good up to 320 degrees Fahrenheit I believe. I obviously don't know the entire process for this from beginning to end, but depending on the labor it might be an interesting idea since there is no other distributor (that I know of at least) doing this type of work.

People could do it at home I'm sure, but I don't even want to think about that smell lol.

I want this decklid for my 2013 GT. EXCEPT flat black or at least a painted black since the deck lid is impossible to keep looking good. Also a black horse. If MMD doesn't come up with something cool soon I am just going to buy the RTR and use the pony from my grill and Hydro Dip it flat black

I'm sure we will never see this, but solid white letter tires to fit on our stock 17" rims. Maybe AM can get in BF Goodrich's ear. BF Goodrich Radial T/As.

I agree a flat black or painted black deck lid would be awesome. Mine gets dirty 30 minutes after I wash my car it seems.

Do you just use your regular household oven for curing? If so is there an odor or a smell? Or do you have another method?

I used their roll bar and chassis high temp. No need to cure. You just need to prep the surface properly.

I just used plastidip to paint my exhaust tips black. They've held up fine for over a year and come out matte black like the rest of the accents on my car. Click image for larger version

No, I masked the bumper around the tips where I might get some overspray. Other than that, it sprays on between the bumper and tips really easy. I took some close ups just now with my phone. It was originally an experiment to see if I would like the tips powder coated. It's still holding up after a year of rain, desert, and heavy snow, and high pressure washes, so I kept it. Maybe yall could work with Raxiom to get a set of Tail lights for the 2011 2012 Mustangs that are like the 2013 2014 ones. Like they did for the Gen 5 tail lights for the 05 - 09 cars.

They will fit on the 11-12 theres just a big gap at the inside corners. You need the 13-14 bumper as well im pretty sure (or so ive heard) if you wanna get rid of those gaps

The thing is, they usually sell for around $800 or more unless you get lucky. Then you've still gotta buy the bumper if you don't want the gap. If Raxiom can make an affordable, direct plug and play set that properly fits our 2010-2012 rear bumpers, they'd make a fortune.

I'm sure Dan or Shane can chime in with an update as to whether Raxiom is still trying to come up with a set or if they've buried that project.

How about ground effects for the 10-12 color match that look like factory. I hate that I have a shelby mustang and there are black plastic ground effects on it....
