for the most part good upkeep and getting air to flow in and out easier can help. Other things is rotation mass and drag~ but overall you wont gain much.

Yes it is. I've looked into that. I'm just not sure what kind of wheels to put on it. And is eibach the best lowering kit or is there a better on out there?

Re: Boosting gas mileage

Hey, guys!

There's actual a TON of ways to increase mpg.

1. empty the car of anything it doesn't need. The heavier the car, the harder it is to get rolling.
2. get a tune (like our SCT tuner with free tunes for life ) and have it set up to use the lowest octane available and also run a performance tune instead of the street tune. Just stay out of the upper RPMS and this will actually be better.
3. anticipate stops. I can't stress that enough. Eliminating the need for stopping completely and having to build up your momentum again is going to save you a ton of gas.
4. cruise in the highest gear possible (I shift into 6th gear at anything 35mph or above) and cruise at your vehicle's optimum cruising speed----depends on year/model/rear gear/etc. But most cars are most efficient between 45 and 56mph.
5. ride behind trucks, buses, large SUVs on the highway and have them break the wind for you.
6. Inflate tires to max PSI they are rated for.
7. use as little throttle as necessary to get to your cruising speed. I regularly get passed by priuses at stop lights and they think they're getting good mileage, HA!
8. remove any extraneous parts from the outside of the car (roof racks, lightbars, mud-flaps, etc.) and make the car as streamlined as possible (removing wings, side-view mirrors and other body pieces is overkill, but helps)
9. lay off the gas going up hills (the more gas you use, the worse mileage you get) and accelerate down hills (letting off the gas going down hills causes the engine to fight gravity to keep you at speed).
10. take routes with the least amount of stops/turns/traffic. In the city, this may be harder to do.

There's lots of news articles and blogs about this online, just google "hypermiling" or "fuel-saving driving techniques", here is one about the 2011 V6 getting 48mpg:
2011 Ford Mustang V6 Sets HP/MPG Record

I've personally recorded 31mpg on a car advertised to get 24mpg over a 280mile trip on the highway. It can be done, but you have to drive really really slow and like you want to save the gas. Otherwise it ends up breaking about even. So, that essentially added 40 more miles to my tank of gas, equal to 2 gallons of gas or $8. Is it worth it? You be the judge.
