SCT Chip

I have the SCT Eliminator chip bought through you guys and I just installed an EGR delete and I just shipped it back to BAMA for a retune. My question is are they going to be able to turn off my check engine light because on the tune program page it doesn't even have the option of the SGR delete I had to put it in the extra comments section and it seems to me like the tuning guys really don't pay much attention to those. Also I have had trouble with my idle with any other mode than stock, it hangs around 1000rpms, when I return it to stock it goes to normal 750-800rpms, I contacted BAMA about this about 2weeks after I got the chip and they blamed it on my timing and fuel pressure which are at factory.

McNasty,

We Can definitely look into your file for you and make all the necessary adjustments etc..

Your best to make sure everything is tuned for properly, would be to give the Bama team a call and let them know so they can Note the account. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

I hope this helps!

I got the package tracking confirmation that BAMA received the package today. When should I call and how long do you think it will take for them to retune the chip and send it back to me?

If they received the package. Call them ASAP before they send it back to you. They should only have it a day or two before they send back to you.

Called them and they know, This is why I was apprehensive about a canned tune. It runs great with the SCT Eliminator chip and BAMA tune, it's a lot more responsive and feels more powerful but it's just the small things like the idle problem. I'm happy with the BAMA tune at least until I start heavily modifying my car (stroke, HCI, and TTC). Can a local tuner write tunes on my chip when I start these things? I have a mustang shop local but they tune with Diablochips

They may not have the SCT software but a ship that has it will use your 4Bank.. If you go with your shop and they don't have SCT software you'll need a new chip which would be a shame.

I've always herd more pro's about SCT..

Yeah, I really want to stay with the SCT, 1. Because I have heard only good things about SCT, and 2. Because it'll be another $500 for their Diablochip and 2 dyno runs and a tune

I agree with ya, I'd check with them via phone or maybe their website? If not I'd do some looking around before I committed to Diablo, plus there's the $$ issue like you say.

McNassty,

You should be all set for the future than. Anyone can use our SCT Eliminator chips if they have the correct tuning software for it.

I'm glad you got in contact with Bama before they sent the chip back out to you. They should be able to make a few adjustments with your idle and eliminate the check engine light from the EGR delete. Getting the idle to drop properly can sometime take two shots before it's correct. Since the car is not right in front of our Bama Team, it's hard to see any characteristics the engine has and needs to be tuned around usually caused by age. I'm sure they'll have everything fixed when your receive the SCT chip again, though!

Let me know how everything turns out!

Shane

Thanks Shane, I'm sure they will be able to have everything running right. I really like the tunes they did for me and the idle was really no big deal since it would lower to normal rpm after about ten seconds. I got my confirmation e-mail that I assume means their finished reflashing my chip and now I just have to wait for shipping, I drove my car today and she just feels so sluggish without that 93 race tune, I now have to be patient which I'm not very good at lol

Yes, the chip should be on its way to you now! I'm also glad to hear you're pleased with the overall Bama tune, too. Hopefully these new adjustments will have all the little bugs squared away. Let me know how it turns out!

I got the chip and installed it, put it on 93R and the idle is worse. Idles at 1200 than drops to 1000rpm. I check fuel pressure and timing and they are both at stock. I'm going to drive to school and back and see if it corrects

Okay so I drove and the idle calmed down. It still hesitates around 1000rpm's when I come to a stop but after a couple of seconds it drops to around 800rpm's. The check engine light is off and my car is responding well again thank you guys

McNassty,

How long of a hesitation are we talking about? It didn't do this on the stock tune correct? Also, what were your modifications again? I know the 94-95 GT/Cobra's can be very finicky to adjustments and modifications. Sometimes having the idle hang at 1000rpm for 2 seconds before it drops to idle can be normal. I feel this is the case for yours, but I would like to hear more details first!

No, it doesn't occur on stock mode and yes it's between 2-10 seconds before it drops to 800rpm's. My stock idle is 750, it just depends on if my car has just been started or if she has been running for a bit.

---------- Post added at 02:24 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:21 AM ----------

It really is no biggie to me now, it was just when I first reinstalled the chip and started it the rpm's hung at 1200 rpm's and that worried me but I think it just needed to relearn the tune. The check engine light is off so I'm satisfied

Hmm, this 94-95 PCM are pretty tricky. Sometimes you just need the car right in front of your to get rid of habits like this.

As long as your satisfied, then I'm happy. However, if you ever want to do more tweaking and see if we can nail it, let me know!

I probably will down the road but I think I will wait until my next upgrade. Also I'd like tone out of school too, I'm used to my car tuned and don't really like driving her without it lol
