Bama Tune

Hey guys, I just installed my 91 octane race tune. After having impatiently waiting for my tuner to arrive I finally took my car out for a spin and wow, do I love it!! It's amazing! It really woke up my car. I just have one quick question, is it normal for my rpm to go up to about 7,000 and then have my rpm gauge flash red? After swing my rpm gauge turn red I started hesitating to keep my foot on the pedal nearing the 7,000 rpm. I'm new to all this modding and I know it might be a dumb question. Lol

I have same year and model as you. I also am running a 91 Hybrid tune from AM. I would say your issue is not the norm. Mine never did that when I tried the race tune.

Don't get to nervous. Just call American Muscle tomorrow. Talk with them.. It may be nothing. Does the same thing happen when you upload the performance tune or street tune.

Yeah, check out the other tunes..personally I was not a fan of the race tune. I was running on the performance tune up until a few months.

BryanGTR,

I'm not exactly sure what you're experiencing but we can definitely get you squared away in just a few minutes. We send out thousands of tunes and build them all from the ground up for your PCM code and your mods. They're not just "canned" tunes, they're built custom by our team, so every once in a while it's possible we mess one up! We'll definitely get it straightened out for you, though! Give one of our Bama Tuning Specialists a call and they'll work with you to figure out exactly what's going on.

Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST

-Dan

The same thing has happened to me once and it felt as if I had a slight loss of power but after shifting into second the light went away and 2nd pulled like a bat out of hell.

Mustangs,

The rev limiter is actually pumped up to 7300 RPM on the 3.7 Mustangs. This is why you're capable of hitting such high RPM like 7k. Don't worry though, the 3.7 is a very stout engine, it can very comfortably rev to those RPM's. We kept this in mind when setting a rev limiter with our Bama tunes. However, the factory setting is still designed to light up the gauge red at those RPM's.

Hope this clears everything up for you!

Shane
