MMD Hood Struts from AM

I ordered the hood struts from American Muscle since they were on sale for $69.99 shipped. $65.00 after the AM Forum discount.
They arrived a day earlier then I expected and went installed that evening.
All I can say is these should have been on the car right from the Mustang Factory. These things are "GREAT"
I want to thank AM for having them on sale and also the discount. The fast shipping was also great.
Now my Mustang is a happy horse and can open his mouth much easier.

Ronnie

I'm not sure what a kaenen 3 is but they work with three screws on each side, the two that attach your hood to the hinge and the last fender attach screw. With 10mm and 13mm sockets, you can install them in about five minutes. Worth every cent. Like Ronnie said, I don't know why Ford doesn't install these at the factory. They put them in the trunk!

Ronnie,

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying your hood struts! They definitely should have been on the car from the factory. They really clean up the underside of the hood!

Thanks for your business and loyalty, we really appreciate it!

They'll technically fit with your hood. However, your cowl is probably dangerously close to the windshield when its popped. These hood struts stand the hood up a few more inches, so I'm not 100% if you've have a enough clearance.

I have the Trufiber 3" cowl hood on my 2011 GT and wasn't able to use the hood struts because of this reason.

I'm glad you're happy with them Ronnie! Ford should have definitely installed these from the factory..

silverskoundrel,

The MMD hood struts should work with the Kaenen 3" hood no problem. Just be careful with the windshield wipers and make sure they're fully seated when you open the hood!

Oops. Deleted the email that had it on it. Sale ended yesterday.

Maybe it's just a sign i should save my money. I am trying to be good for the rest of the year until Christmas.

Well, Let me just tell you all this,

I'm really lucky for getting them for the sale price but if I knew how well made and how nice these hood struts worked I would have paid full price for them and never looked back.

Aww man! Yeah, I'm sorry about the inconvenience on this. I'm going to have a note added to the site, for the guys that are running a large cowl hood! The hood and relocation nozzle will fit perfectly, you just won't be able to use the MMD hood struts. They stand the hood up a little bit further, which will cause the actual cowl to hit the windshield. If you don't mind that the cowl touches the windshield when the hood's open, then you could technically run them. Over time you may start to see some scratches on the hood where it touches the windshield.

I hope this helps!

Hmmm...kinda don't want to send anything back. Maybe I'll just put clear plastic dip on that edge of the hood.

Thanks for going to make the note update! I know its probably hard to keep up with what's compatible with what when the combinations are damn near limitless and you guys have to hear it from us. I'll just make sure to open my hood slowly lol

Yeah, just be careful when lifting up the hood for the first time with the hood struts and see how much clearance you have!

We really appreciate all of your feedback. Let me know how you make out!

Hm, this sounds very odd. I would recommend going over the install again and make sure everything is sitting properly. If you don't have any luck, we can definitely help you troubleshoot. Just hit up my CS team directly or shoot me a PM!
