Bama tuner

Just ordered a Bama tuner with lifetime tunes along with a cai to coincide with new 4.10 gears in my '13 GT. This should all come together sometime next week.

I also have an '11 V6. My question is will I be able to tune the V6 with the same tuner or will I have to get a sepoarate one for it?

When you switch from one car to another you gotta save and store the stock tune so you'll have to return to its stock tune beige you switch cars

You can use the same tuner, but you will still have to purchase the tunes for $150. Use the search feature and go to....Tunes for Life...NJstanger had a similar question.

Before* you can use the same one like ^ said but you have to return whatever car you had tuned back to stock tune then you can have the other tuned but you gotta pay more to get ties for the other car and can't have them both tuned at the same time so really you can't.

Great choice! The 4.10 Gears and Bama tune are definitely a nasty combo. Your car is going to be a completely different animal with the Gears and Custom tune!

You cannot tune your 11' V6 and your 13' GT at the same time. These devices are vin locked to one car at a time! However, if you take the tune off your 2013 GT and return the car to stock, you could use the device on your 2011 V6.

I hope this helps! Give the Bama team a call if you have any further questions. Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Not a 100% clear on how these work. Do they stay plugged into the car all the time?

No, the device is not plugged into your PCM at all times. You plug the device into your car, follow the steps to download the tune. Once it's complete you can just unplug the tuner from your OB2 port. The device is then locked to whatever car you just tuned!

If you want to use it on a different vehicle, you have to return the car back to stock and make sure it's "Un-Married". If it's unmarried, you can then use it on a different vehicle. However, you'll have to purchase new tunes for the new vehicle you're tuning. Because your current tunes are for a 2013 GT with your exact mods, written from the ground up!

I hope this helps clear things up.

Dan I have a question, I bought my car used and the previous owner did some work to it, I want to get a tuner but I'm pretty sure there is a tune on the car... I'm currently deployed so I have to look at a few things, only had the car a short while before I left. I know it has a Boss Intake, CAI, Roush axle back... I guess the question is when I buy a tuner, if there is a tune other than stock, due I just Copy the current one as stock? Thanks for any help... Also is there a preferred Tuner? I have a 2011 GT.

Hey,

I can definitely touch base on this for you. If your car has a Boss intake & CAI the car has to be tuned. It would throw a few different CEL's and wouldn't run right at all on the stock tune with those mods!

When you buy a tuner, the tuner is just going to save the current file on the car as your stock file. So you can still upload a tune to your PCM!

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance! Our Bama Performance tuning specialists are here in the building Monday-Friday from 9AM-5:30PM EST and Saturday 9AM-5:30PM EST. You can hit them up directly at 888.226.9764 and they'll get you squared away!

Sweet thanks, I also have a couple questions? Is there a preferred tuner for my car? It says it comes with 3 tunes, but tunes for life? So I get 3 initial ones and if I change anything on my car I can get a new tune for it? How long do they usually take to get you the updated tune?

---------- Post added at 10:44 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:42 AM ----------

Oh forgot, 1 last question... If I get 3 tunes... Can just one be with the ghost cam tune? Would that mess anything up with my set up, or be to loud with Roush axle back? Thanks again for all your help....

There's not necessarily a preferred tune for your Mustang. We offer a bunch of different tunes so that we have a tune for everyone's liking. We can also datalog with you so that we can make any adjustments that will benefit your style of driving.

Yes, you get 3 inital tunes that will be pre loaded to your device when you get it. These tunes will be written off of the 19 questions we ask you to fill out before the tuner ships. This will allow us to write your tunes completely custom from the ground up!

If you have an 11+ Manual GT, we can offer you the Ghost cam tune. You need to have an O/R mid pipe as well! If you meet all of these requirements, we can write you a Ghost Cam tune. It's perfectly save to drive on all the time and It won't be any louder than your current idle. It will just have a lopey idle !

I hope this clears things up. Please let me know if you have any further questions or need some assistance!

Dan, I meant a preferred tuner not tune.. I am not sure if I have O/R X pipe.. Lol I know that I probably should, but before I left for deployment I knew even less than I do now... I will look when I get back. The previous owner did some good things to the car, so maybe it does have one. How will I know if its a O/R x pipe by the way?

Just ordered a Bama tuner with lifetime tunes along with a cai to coincide with new 4.10 gears in my '13 GT. This should all come together sometime next week.

So the parts came in earlier in the week but I didn't get to them until today. I have jumped the gun a bit here. I installed the Steeda CAI and my street tune today but will not be getting the new gears until later in the week. All I can say is WOW! I wish that I would have done the tune with the stock CAI so I could have told if the difference was just the tune or also the new CAI. I know theoretically the CAI makes no difference but I guess the added noise sure makes it feel quicker. I haven't had the car at the track yet but I got out on a country road and did a few acceleration tests and for the first time when upshifting, I got both 2nd and 3rd gear scratch. That really got my attention. I'm really looking forward to the 4.10s now.

A question I did have was that in upshifting during normal driving in "D" (not "S") the transmission seems for a split second go into neutral between each shift. Is that normal? It shifts ultrasmoothly however, under hard acceleration. Also does a tune have any effect on braking? It seems like I now have superpower brakes.

All the tuner does is hold the tune, no one has advantages over another, most ppl use the standard SCT SF3 tuner, I opted for the iTSX for its ease of use and the gauges I can use on my phone. If I purchased another one I would go with the standard SF3 BC I never use the app. And if I was you I would ask the previous owner for the tuner. It is useless to him BC it's locked to your car. He most likely forgot to give it to you.

Ok, I was think a wireless one.. Just seemed easier and more convenient.. I bought the car from a dealer, so I can't just ask the previous owner.. It's all good. I will get a new one when I get back there. Thanks for the help.

I have the Liverwire ts. They said its wireless but you gotta have it plugged in to have the touchscreen to work. It's still tuned regardless after you install it

The shifting you're explaining seems pretty normal on a aggressive tune. However, we can definitely make some adjustments for you if you'd like it to shift a little more smooth during normal driving! I'm glad to hear you're really enjoying your tune otherwise.

I checked with a Ford dealership today about disabling my daytime running lights with no luck saying they couldn't do it..is this something that bama could also look into? Or is that a separate ecu module?
