Coleton,

You're going to need new tunes for your specific Mustang. Even though your engine and mods are exactly the same as the previous owner, chances are the computer codes are different. Especially with yours being an '09 and the previous owners being an '07, I'm almost positive the computer codes are different.

If you do upload his '07 tune onto your '09 with a different PCM code. There's a very good chance the PCM will not register the tune properly and become "bricked" or locked up. At that point, you'll need to have the car towed to a Ford dealer to be overwritten/flashed back to the stock settings. If the tune does go through without bricking the PCM, there's also a good chance the car will only run in "limp-mode" until it's fixed.

I understand money is tight right now and you may not be able to enroll yourself into the Bama Free Tunes for Life program, so your best bet is to hold off on the mods until then. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. It's always better to do things the right away, IMO.

Hope this clears things up for you!

Shane

I had this same issue a few days ago. I bought a tuner from a friend and his was a 2012 and mine is a 2013.. I loaded the street tune and it ran fine but my cruise control adn my sport mode would not work. After that i figured id return it to stock til i buy the free tunes for life

Glad I could assist you! I know the details of tuning and modifying the engine can be extensive and confusing sometimes. If you have more questions, feel free to contact me. I'm here to help!
