The SCT Eliminator chip is specifically designed for 87-95 OBDI Mustangs, as they don't have the ability to use an OBDII hand held tuner. The Eliminator chip will actually work on 87-04 Mustangs, but if you have a 96-04 Mustang you're much better off using an OBDII hand held tuner, like the SCT SF3.
This chip is not better or worse than a dyno tune. It's simply a tool to hold a custom tune within your 87-04 Mustang. The chip can be used to hold a custom tune from Bama (via email) or it can be used to hold a dyno tune from any Speed Shop that uses SCT software to tune. It's your choice!
This is the best part about any SCT tuning device, including the SCT Eliminator chip. You can use it with the Bama Free Tunes for Life program, for bolt-on modifications to your Mustang and then if your end up building or boosting the engine, it can still be used to hold a dyno tune from a local Speed Shop.
Hope this info clears things up for you. If you have more questions, just let me know!
