Help quick please camshaft problem

I am currently installing my e303 cam into my 1989 Mustang and I have everything together and the cam has a lot of play in it like I can pull I about a half inch in and out its loose and idk what I should do now I know it shouldn't have that much play in the camshaft thanks.

You have a half inch play with the camshaft retainer plate installed? Can you take a quick video of what you're experiencing and post it up here. It's hard to diagnose without seeing the engine in front of me.

Get back to me with a video and more details and we'll get this figured out!

Hey kyle_rivas,

Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday when you were trying to post a video! I just noticed your response this morning.

Watching the video, I'm surprised there's this much free play in the camshaft. I'm not sure what could be causing it either. Do you have the stock camshaft sitting around that was in the engine before? Can you measure the length of both cams to make sure they're the same? I doubt there would be this much of a machining error in your FordRacing E303 cam, but anything is possible.

Give this a shot and let me know!

Shane
